The 1176 works well with extreme settings C. Try using fast settings, and turn up the input a little more than normal till you hear a slight distortion. It colors the sound really well.
If your computer can also handle it, you should use the 1176 on stereo configuration. Duplicate your track, spread the pan and route to two different mixer tracks.
Next, put the Waves CLA-76 (Mono) on each channel.
