Architects - Doomsday

This is a song that’s been with me ever since I discovered metal back in 2020 and it feels so surreal to be playing this live at Genesis 2.0 by @holdstill.in on September 6th!

@augustburnsred - Empire

STORY TIME!

In late 2019, I was introduced to Metal by my lovely sister @shreyaa_v_ , who took me to a legendary concert that happened in March 2020 at Unwind Center in Chennai. On the bill were Overdrive, The Levites, and Waffles & Warfare.

At the time, 14 year old me had NO IDEA that so many of the beloved musicians I know today were there at that show. Tangent aside, the first song that played while the crowd waited for the show to start was Empire by ABR. Bear in mind that the only metal I’d listened to was Wage War at the time. The sheer electricity and energy I heard and saw in that song was unreal! The video on a huge projector, the speakers absolutely BLASTING, it was an insane experience.

That’s why this song brings back so many memories for me. Little did 14 year old me know that I’d be able to play this song 6 years down the line, let alone learn it in an hour and record it stat.
Probably the most impromptu cover I’ve done

Okay rant over gng

Metal Chennai return with the 16th Edition of Brutal Carnage! Featuring @chaos_thrash , @incendiarius_band @where.are.the.mangas & @drumtoid live at the Spotted Deer on the 1st of August!

Headlining the night are Trivandrum’s CHAOS, finally returning to Chennai to launch their new album, Bane of Humanity featuring Nikhil, Jaaga, Manu and Arunava. Fresh off a European Tour, this show marks their long-awaited return to the city after 15 editions of Brutal Carnage!

MANGAS is a alternative punk/rock project from Chennai blending hardcore energy, surreal lyricism, and emotional chaos. Once rooted in indie pop, the project has evolved into loud, restless songs about identity, illusion, memory, and losing yourself in modern life. Join in giving MANGAS a fitting sendoff before he leaves the country to study later this year.

Also joining the bill are local progressive metal outfit Incendarius, performing material from their recently released EP, Neural Oscillations, featuring Vachu, Boja and Nikhil.

Opening the evening is a set by Drumtoid, the metalcore project by drummer Shrikar Varadarajan which combines elements from electronic genres with modern metal riffs to create a unique blend that features motivational, personal lyrics and heavy, upbeat instrumentals.
