We teamed up to put on a one-off menu for our lucky guests and are so thankful to all of you who helped make it a special evening.

Christmas '24

1 and 2. Starting with my favourite dish. Christmas ham Hokkien mee, using all the leftover fat
3. Chaos. Smoked beef rib, turkey, ham and PIB. Roasties, fried sprouts, BBQ carrots and parsnips, stuffing, gravy. Then vegan: lo back go with lots of shiitake, stuffing and gravy.
4. Cheese

We are… SOLD OUT 🎉🎉🎉

Tickets for The Big Fat BBQ are officially gone!

We are touched by the support of people wanting to join us to raise funds at this year’s BBQ. Due to an overwhelming response, we’ve made the decision NOT to sell tickets at the door. 🚪🎟️❌

Our chef-contributors have helped us to create a delicious menu, but food is limited, and we want to make sure everyone who’s already got a ticket gets a chance to try the amazing dishes we have on offer.

If you didn’t grab a ticket, don’t worry! This won’t be the last of these... We will see you next year! 🤞🤞

Our hearts are so full, thanks to the generosity of the chefs, DJs, photographers, videographer, suppliers, donors and volunteers who’ve stepped up to make this happen. We honestly can’t wait to welcome, cook and share moments with this special community. It is times like these in the world when we need some love 😘

50% of tickets have already been sold… and yes, we are looking at almost quadruple the amount of sausages this year 🤭🔥

Like the sausages, the tickets have been flying out the door, and with our new, bigger location at ESEACC post-move, we’ve nearly matched last year’s total capacity! There will be a handful of tickets on the door, but why take the chance? Grab yours now before they’re gone. 🎟️ ticket link in bio!

First things first: we’re incredibly grateful to all our talented contributors from across the ESEA community and beyond. With MAP as one of our donation beneficiaries this year, it feels especially important to centre intersectionality and stand united in solidarity with Palestine 🍉

On the day, you’ll be treated to dishes lovingly prepared by our contributors, then fired up on the grills by our in-house 🍢🍗🍡BBQ crew. 🥗🫜Salads? Slung fresh by your local salad dealer @celestialpeach_uk and her squad! Drinks to wash everything down with and dessert to end on a sweet note too! 🍨

The team is fired up and ready for this year’s fundraiser! 🔥 Looking back at last year’s event fills us with warmth and pride – this year, we’re coming back even more ambitious.

We’re aiming to raise serious funds while serving up double the amount of BBQ and mouthwatering and vibrant, salads. 👅 We’re also working to bring you some amazing drink and dessert options too to ‘end with something sweet’ 🍬

We’ve locked in an incredible contributor lineup and we are itching to share the first release with you and start selling tickets soon! 👀 The first names are dropping this week so stay tuned!

If my small voice can make even the smallest difference, then I hope I can do that here.
On reflection, there is something grotesque about posting about food while millions of Palestinians are being deliberately starved.

If, like me, you’ve been fortunate enough to visit museums around the world that bear witness to atrocities—or if you’ve grown up with the history of WWII drilled into you—I can’t fathom how you wouldn’t want to prevent such horrors from happening again, regardless of political context.

We are being live-streamed slaughter and torture on a sickening scale, while living in a country whose government is complicit.

It is easy to feel helpless.

In recent weeks, confirmed starvation deaths in Gaza have surged. Over 100 people, including many children, have already died from hunger—with at least 45 dying in just four days. And that’s only what’s been recorded. Aid groups are calling this a man-made famine, warning that without immediate access to food and supplies, many more will die.

I know there are atrocities happening all over the world. But this one is happening right in front of our eyes, with the backing—or silence—of many of our leaders. That visibility comes with responsibility. This is not about ignoring other suffering; it’s about acting where we can.

There is help you can give, particularly if you are tired of shouting into the void that is our political system. Please, do what you can.

When we look back at this time—when your children look you in the eyes and ask what you did—what will you say?

As part of @bigfat.bbq we are organising a fundraiser in September. But how many more children will have died by the time we get there?

In working with @gazacolauk for the September event, they recommended the following:

Al Karama/Dignity Hospital – Funding rebuilding efforts and essential medical equipment.

Gaza Web – Restoring and sustaining internet access across Gaza.

Hayat Humanitarian Aid – Providing lifesaving clean water and sanitation services.

1 - hogget shoulder biryani
2 - one of many stir fries when I couldn's stop brewing superior broths
3 & 4 - pork pie and spooky sausage with mash (used superior broth in the gravy) @henwens.ldn
5 & 6 - using up the last of my frozen curry paste
7 - I don't think anyone should ever feel the need to be burdened with putting on a mad spread when hosting, however, it is fucking great when they do
