Why is this #film being criticised so much? My thoughts on what it might be going against: the aesthetics of fascism.
#christopherNolan offers an objective view and humanises the characters, portraying their vulnerability and weaknesses. Rather than telling the story of an otherworldly hero, he threads in the complexity and diversity of human experience, such as the brutality of war, PTSD, self-doubt, violence against women and the fluidity and development of different identities.
This film was never meant to be the literal adaptation of the original poem. Instead, the filmmakers made the story palatable for modern audiences.
