We are in a time of copy+paste memes and shared/stolen expressions, but when you have the grace of loved ones with whom you can speak freely about grief, the many rites and means of passage, the singularity of losing of a loved one, and the communion of fear that we all silently bear as a collective… well, sometimes you want to write your own stupid platitude to post and pin and share with the universe. Because in the end, we truly own so little beyond what our minds can grasp, and right now, this is gratitude for the people I love, and for myself, because I never want to stop believing that we contain multitudes of promise that outweigh our sorrows. by @dsakaki

Important Weekend and Weekend-Adjacent Things. Visiting industry frens like @marc.gano towards close of shift/mellow time to gab, working off-site and chasing some not-great WiFi signal to try and get some writing done, a muchly-needed wine reward on a Friday night at @florence_cellars, a fabulous book party for @juliendperry at @surrellseattle — AWESOME!! And after all of this brain overstimulation, Emotional Support Noodles to the rescue, and a Sunday night wind-down with witchy shows, laundry piles, and maybe a little dance party in the middle of my living room just to expend some nervous energy into the universe. Despite a challenging season of life, my singular Era of DGAF is rather marvelous. 🥰 by @dsakaki

Once again, I am gobsmacked with gratitude, for the incredible village of friends I’ve been able to make over the years, from the Way Back When’s of Twitter still being called Twitter, food blogs being a thing, and the ineffable synergy of human connection. Along with celebrating the amazing @juliendperry and her NEW COOKBOOK (Seattle Eats + Drinks — go out and get it. Right now. Do it!), it was a reunion of folks who I never would have met if it wasn’t for this incredible community. Even if it’s been a while since some of us reconnected, I admire all y’all SO MUCH, because these are the talented folks who hustle as hard as they care and I’m just so thankful to watch them glow 🥰 @pinkandposey @mel_seattle @dayglowbeige @jamesonfink @monybseattle by @dsakaki

A friend had the best advice — if it’s a terrible day, pretend you’re in a movie. It wasn’t a terrible day by any means, but walking around downtown Seattle on an impossibly sunny day in October felt pretty cinematic. by @dsakaki

Three thousand cheers to @bardojo and @chef_brambila and the whole team who are making magic in downtown Seattle, right next to @seattleartmuseum — more reasons to get yer butts downtown, barely a two minute walk from the Symphony Station if you’re taking the Line 2. The menu is so colorful — we will be starving for vibrant food soon enough when the sky is the color of wet paste for the next five months, and when it’s zero-dark-thirty by four. 🫠 Bar Dojo is Bar Dopamine for the PNW with dishes that are as beautiful to the eye as they are the tastebuds. Woodblock print night for @seattleartmuseum — member night (love being a SAM member!), with the artists making beautiful prints of their work and the rest of us making awesome signs. These were ones that had Sassy Sue and I in stitches. 😆😆😆 The Twilight one made me cackle. ✨ by @dsakaki

I used to collect leaves and flowers for drying and pressing, but the color, of course, never retained its brilliance as much as when it was first observed and admired in the wild. You realize the truth of precious things in this world is their ephemeral quality, that the most striking, marvelous wonders aren’t something to be kept or even held. I wasn’t trying to capture an object of beauty, I was trying and failing to capture the light that illuminates from within and around a thing. Photography can capture a little of that; it is the art of chasing light, after all. But I think the beauty of photography is in the way it can capture the memory of a thing, and photos exist as a reminder to keep chasing light, wherever we can find it. by @dsakaki

See, I told u I would use that iPad box for something, someday 🙃 Widows Bay Halloween is SERVING (the punch now). Using as much basic materials as possible to make an antler crown headpiece and a cursed spell book that doubles as a purse to hold my crap for when I dare to leave the house wearing this insanity. Purchased some dollar store things from Daiso — little kid princess crown, beads and stick on rhinestones. Everything else is repurposed boxes, cardboard, cat-ear headband made out of heavy gauge wire, one wire hanger, painters tape, tin foil, a whole lot of glue and gesso. Catching up on a lot of shows — Spider Noir, Lanterns, and F1 on the weekends. by @dsakaki
