So this happened ❤️ #NationalBookAward #AFirstTimeForEverything by @dsantat

Thirty years ago I was getting a biology degree at UC San Diego. It was my college roommates who encouraged me to pursue art for a living. San Diego Comic Con was the place that inspired me to become a writer. I remember sitting in the back room of my first Einser Award banquet back in 1994 dreaming of being recognized for something I had written. Here we are full circle winning an award at the very convention that made me want to pursue my passion. This one feels special ❤️ by @dsantat

Imagination took flight! Second graders from across the district took part in our Creating & Experiencing Stories event, where they met this year's Hills Bank Visiting Author and Illustrator, Dan Santat (@dsantat), a bestselling author, Caldecott Medalist, and National Book Award winner! They also explored storytelling through hands-on art activities and interactive literacy lessons.

Every student even got to take home a book of their choice, courtesy of Hills Bank!

A special thank-you to @hillsbank and the @iccsdfoundation for making this experience possible through the Visiting Author Program! by @dsantat
