Watch died at the end 🥺 time to upgrade to a @garmin I feel grateful to have this accomplishment. At the start of the summer, I joined @run732runclub inspired by who was around me, I kept running. With no real intention or plan, my fun runs had taken me into training territory. About a month ago, I signed up for @ac_marathon_race_series My first marathon EVER!

I fell off the cliff a little here 📉 the sun, the heat. Wondering if there was more that I could have done with my nutrition/hydration. I also had no business running sub 9 miles and should have stuck with my goal pace of 9:30. You live and you learn.

I fell in love with the process. The highs, the lows, the long runs, the short runs. The consistency it takes to improve. The time alone with my breath and my thoughts. Running has an uncomfortable and unshakable way of teaching you how to keep going!

This weekend, I took a liking to race day. The feels…emotionally and physically. Crossing that finish line is a special experience!

Very happy, very humbled, and very ready to jump back in as a hybrid athlete. While I do have plans to tackle another marathon, I am excited to switch gears with my training in the immediate future.

Thank you everyone for the race day messages and support✌️ by @dsanti4

Really proud of my second marathon. 3 weeks ago I strained my hamstring. This limited me to just two test runs leading up to the race as I attempted to heal. I felt like it had gotten to a place where I could push through without risking further injury. I felt the hamstring for the first half of the race then had trouble with the quad on my opposite leg locking up likely from over compensating. But I am grateful for this experience.
Compared to last year I was not trained as well but I did have the experience under my belt and despite the injury, I wanted to try to get close to last year’s time. I fell short of that goal. I needed an extra 24 minutes but regardless crossing the finishing line is always worth it. This marathon tested me in an entire different capacity not only physically but mentally to continue pushing when I knew the goal of exceeding last year was beyond me.
Setting a goal, working towards it, and seeing it through is what I enjoy most about running a marathon. Through a certain level of suffering we have a deeper understanding of who we are!

Until next time ✌️
