Creative Entrepreneur Reality. The thing that even takes longer in posting a reel is spending my time correcting the captions. Today’s was replacing “reel” with generated caption, “real.” That is a real story. by @dscotsvideostore

I trusted myself when I was terrified, and that led me to here.

I had to say goodbye to my playground. My work took me more outside this space vs in the space. In January of 2025, I suddenly lost my job. Not my clients, but the company I worked for to serve them. I scrambled to figure out next steps, where to go, that being yet another creative agency to work for. I always wanted to start my own thing so I thought it was a sign to do so. Even though I wasn’t ready, I decided to jump. My jump didn’t lead me to where I thought I was going, but it led me to where I am now. Where I thought I was going, was building an in-person podcast studio. Not only an in-person podcast studio, but one that had more professional video production, making podcasts look more elevated like the world I had come from. As I learned more about the podcast world, I learned that very few people care about quality podcast production the way I did; they just want to look and sound nice, like the everyday video podcast look and sound. So where am I going and what have I been doing? I love storytelling. What I loved about my producing career was the storytelling. The docu-style of doing so. That part of my job went away that I loved so much; it was more about trends and the cleverness of how to use those trends to get the messaging across. Though it was fun, it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I missed the stories and the telling of those stories.

I’ve learned so much about myself this past year: that I have a talent as a visual director, videographer, and editor. And I love helping others bring their brands visually to life. As I approach a new era, I know where I’m going this time. by @dscotsvideostore

❤️‍🔥 The hot seats are my favorite part of retreat because this is where you can literally watch women remember who the hell they are.

One minute she’s like, “I think I need a new offer? Or maybe my content sucks? Or maybe I’m just tired?”

And then we start pulling the thread.

What do you actually want to sell? What income goal are we building toward? What needs to happen in the next 90 days to make that real?

And suddenly it’s not floating around in her head anymore.

It’s a plan. It’s a next move. It’s a “holy shit, I can actually do this.”

That’s what I want for you.

I really like using a boom mic for YouTube Videos instead of podcast mics, unless of course it is a Podcast on YouTube. I will say though, podcast mics are more user friendly to most consumers. by @dscotsvideostore
