Back in February, the angels @madetomovela @itsandyoro @akumenmusic invited me to play on @dublab for the first time. Tony shreds the first 40, then Andy and I sit down to chat about Detroit, @imbolc.site , and building new futures in house and techno. After that, I play whatever I brought for an hour. Coldbrook Creek is an urban stream in Grand Rapids, MI, that flows northwest from Reeds Lake to the Grand River. Most of the creek is currently underground in culverts, but it wasn’t always that way. Hundreds of years have transformed the creek into a “ghost river”—a flowing body of water that once flowed above ground but has now been covered by human urbanization, roads, and infill.

Coldbrook Creek (2024) is also the name of a public artwork by Kate Levy (@katemakingpictures), where a series of public markers and audio installations draw attention to the existence of and histories surrounding Coldbrook Creek. Levy invited artist Daniel Sharp (Endash), born himself in Grand Rapids, to transform sound recordings of places where the Creek currently flows underground—through pipes, sewage, and more—into a soundscape for the public installation. The soundtrack, now available for the first time as a digital release on Bandcamp, considers what happens when liquid is forced underground; what happens, for example, when tears become veins, floodplains become floor plans, and cracks become geysers?

Back in April, @michigancentraldetroit published an interview with @nicolaskisicaguirre and @dshrp about the culture of repair, the work of Brazilian artist Lygia Pape, and more. What a treat to revisit. Find it again on Michigan Central’s substack or the link in bio. / pictured: Nicolas Kisic-Aguirre (slides 1, 3); Lygia Pape (slide 5). by @dshrp

Bye Detroit (for now); I’m moving to LA. You’ve let me grow in shapes and dimensions I never thought possible. Thank you. Never forever; or, always to be continued. Tomorrow 3p EST: Punctuation w Endash on @bluemoon.radio takes us to the 00s: blogs, remixes, and the B side textures of growing up on the indie wave. In many ways, it’s as if I did another Moods mix (9 years later). // After this, I’m hitting pause on Punctuation. I’m immensely proud of and grateful for (10 hours of music!!) to focus on .. ummm … a west coast move … so we may return. Stay chuned x by @dshrp

Punctuation 09 w Endash on @bluemoon.radio is back this Sunday at 3p EST. This month, we take a look at classical, spoken word, and poetic perspectives on the “phrase.” From Bach to synth pioneer Wendy Carlos to Hamlet and British poet A.E. Housman, we ask: where do things end? And if they end, does that always imply a start? by @dshrp
