A little autumn reading recap 🍂📚 Two fall reads finished over the past few weeks, and I’m still waiting for that perfect autumnal book to completely sweep me away. 😶 Currently reading a couple more, so fingers crossed! Until then, I’ve been enjoying fall to the absolute max 🫶🏼 bookstores, cozy days, road trips, mountain views, and all the autumn magic in between🍁☕️

By chapter 33, I was convinced someone needed to make a movie out of this book because it was THAT good. 🎬✨

And then I realized… wait a minute. Hasn’t there already been a movie that feels a little like this? 😂🍿 Meet Joe Black (1998) came to mind, especially because of the similar premise and the way the main male character reminded me so much of Brad Pitt’s character. The more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t unsee the similarities.

That aside, this was such a fun, witty, and entertaining read. I finished it in two sittings and loved the mix of romance, mystery, and a little spooky/gothic atmosphere👻💕📖 Definitely a great read for spooky season … the story sets the perfect spooky vibes without being too scary🍂🎃

🍂 As of yesterday, fall has officially begun and so has my fall reading 📚🤎

The annual pumpkin & mum display is back. 🎃🌼

Of course the nails had to match the season 🤎 💅

Bringing back my DIY fall bookmark from last year & one of my favorite pumpkin mugs 🍂🎃📖

Homemade brown sugar cinnamon latte ☕️🤎 and the latte art is… getting there 😂

God really answered one of my little wishes with this view 🌅🤎 beautiful sunsets right from my doorstep ✨

Admired it, loved it, almost bought it… but walked away like a girl who definitely has enough mugs 😂☕️🍂

August was tough 🤍

But every day I learned to make the most of what I had and to be grateful for the little things…the views, the sunsets, the books, and the quiet moments. 📚🌅🤎

I am still learning to let go of what I can’t control and find peace in what I can.

Grateful for August, for all it taught me, and for the little moments that made it beautiful. ✨

After a while, I somehow managed to finish this very small book. 😅

It was honestly not my cup of tea. I came very close to DNFing it, but since it was such a short read, I decided to sit through it, and I’m glad I did because there’s no denying that the writing is absolutely stunning.

It’s a very thought provoking book and definitely one that lingers with you after you finish it. However, I felt like some of the major themes were left somewhat unexplored. I especially wish there had been a more honest and open conversation between Gail and Max. I wanted to understand Max’s perspective a little more, what he thought, how he felt, and why things unfolded the way they did. I think that kind of conversation could have added so much more emotional depth to the story.

There’s honestly a lot I could say about this book, but I also found it a little boring at times, and I struggled to find my flow with it.

Will I reread it? No.

Would I recommend it? Probably not.

But was it thought provoking? Absolutely. And despite my mixed feelings, I’m glad I finished it. Some books you love, some books you don’t, and some simply stay with you long enough to make you think. 📖✨ by @dslibrary7
