90 MINUTES BEFORE SHOWTIME. 🎬

Before the lights. Before the music. Before the first strut down the runway… this is where it all comes together.

Designers making last-minute adjustments.
Stylists perfecting every detail.
Final makeup touches.
Models locking in mentally.
Garments being fitted, pinned, adjusted and perfected.

The dressing room is controlled chaos but every hand, every detail and every moment has a purpose.

Some people don’t just host the show… they become part of its heartbeat. 🖤🌻

Over 10 years ago, God placed Karena Dykes in my path. I didn’t fully understand the vision then, but I felt led to tell her, “We’re going to do some amazing work together.” Looking back now, I understand just how powerful that moment was.

For eight years, Karena has helped carry A Sun for My Sun as our host and MC commanding the runway with her voice, energy, attention to detail, and undeniable presence. But her impact reaches far beyond the stage.

She has stood beside me through some of the hardest moments of my life. She has helped me give a voice to a mother’s love when finding my own words wasn’t easy. She understands the heart behind this fashion show and handles the stories of our children and families with the love, care, and respect they deserve.

Every introduction. Every transition. Every name spoken. Every story honored. She understands that this runway is bigger than fashion its purpose, healing, remembrance, and Runway Therapy.

Karena, thank you for saying YES to the vision all those years ago and continuing to stand beside me. God knew what this connection would become long before we did.

10 years ago, no one could have told me that I would learn to carry grief with such grace to stay in position, trust God’s plan and purpose for my life, and turn my pain into something that could empower others.

That is Runway Therapy.

A Sun for My Sun isn’t just about my son. It’s about all of our sons. It’s about understanding that we all have a story, we all carry something, and through it all, we can continue moving forward with purpose.

NYFW Day 3: Part 2. So this is the actual outfit I wore on Day 3 before I went to the @afrikreahq pop up to try on that beautiful set that I did not want to take off!

After the pop up, we headed to see the Negris Collection SS27 @negris_lebrum on the beautiful rooftop of Rockefeller Plaza. I loved seeing the mix of rich storytelling, elevated details and statement pieces that stood out on the runway. Definitely a collection that made an impact✨
