It got pretty noisy today across the Big Country as storms rolled through with plenty of lightning. An isolated severe storm dropped up to golf ball size hail through the southern counties of the area. More storms are expected tomorrow which will bring an additional quarter to half an inch of rainfall and potentially more large hail in the stronger storms. by @dstringer_wx

We have had one severe storm in the Big Country that just won't die out. More storms are moving in from the west from the Panhandle region, luckily none of those storms are severe at the moment. by @dstringer_wx

Weather Update: Friday, May 3rd: We are finally done with yet another round of severe weather today across the Big Country. One storm did produce a large tornado just a few miles south of Robert Lee. We dodged a MAJOR bullet here in Abilene. The area of rotation has weakened a little bit and the storm is now moving to the E about 10-15 mph. There is a tornado warning for Shackelford Tx until 9:00pm but the rotation with that storm has also weakened. There is still golf ball to tennis ball size hail possible in the storm near Abilene. That storm has dropped to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning with winds up to 60mph and hail up to ping pong size. by @dstringer_wx

It turned out to be a pretty nice day here across the Big Country. The clouds decided to clear out a bit early allowing us to warm up a couple of degrees warmer than forecasted. More of the same is expected tomorrow. Sunny skies, and light southerly winds will allow temperatures rise back into the 70's for the Big Country. by @dstringer_wx

We are expecting mostly sunny skies tomorrow during the eclipse. We are expecting more high level clouds than lower levels such as stratus and cirrus clouds. Storm development seems to begin later in the afternoon after 4pm and continuing through the overnight hours into Tuesday. by @dstringer_wx

It will be a nice end to the weekend with highs near 80 tomorrow and winds won't be as gusty. Keeping our eye on the storm potential for Monday which you know is Eclipse Day. There is already a slight risk for the area 3 days out. Get your rain gear ready because the first part of the week will be a rainy one. by @dstringer_wx

It has been a relatively nice weekend across the Big Country. Temperatures ranged from the upper 70's to low 80's across the area and remain that way on Easter Sunday into the start of the week. Keeping an eye on storm potential for mainly eastern areas of the Big Country Monday afternoon ahead of the next cold front. by @dstringer_wx

Storms are continuing to push east out of the area. They should be out of the area by 1-2 in the morning. Tomorrow will be another windy day but skies will be sunny. Highs will be a few degrees cooler in the upper 60's to around 70 thanks to another cold front. by @dstringer_wx
