A collection of all the places in Italy where I left pieces of my heart and soul. A Melbourne girl with an Italian dream 🇦🇺🇮🇹 (all photos are mine)

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

At this time of year, here in the southern hemisphere, the weather is cold and some days are dreary. I do love Autumn 🍂 it’s my favourite time of year but Winter is definitely here now and the bombardment of Euro summer vacation posts has already begun. So I thought I’d share a winter photo from our most amazing winter Italy trip that now seems like a lifetime ago. When we travelled to Italy for Christmas in 2019, we had the most magnificent blue skies 90% of the time. It was cold up north but it was stunningly beautiful. This was one of our favourite places in the north of Italy in the tiny town Faggeto Lario, Molina. The bonus of it being cold was that I didn’t have to walk the 100 stairs up to our apartment in boiling heat 😉.

Beautiful Sicilian views from my mum’s birthplace, Naso. You can see the Aeolian islands in the distance. My eldest daughter is doing a university assignment on global migration and she has been researching my Nonni’s history. We are so grateful to my Nonno who meticulously kept so many letters and important documents dating back to WW2 and their departure from Italy to Australia. We even have their 3rd class boarding passes! I can literally hear my Nonno saying “brava Maddy che stai imparare della mia storia importante”. That’s all he ever wanted, for us to know his history, his sacrifices and his legacy. #migration #sicily #sicilia #nonni taken in Naso, Messina by @dtcerra

Alberbello. A quaint town boasting stunning Trulli houses. I remember the day we strolled through this town. A gorgeous sunny day, exploring those small houses and shops. #alberello #italy #trulli #puglia #puglia❤️ taken in Alberobello, Puglia, Italy by @dtcerra

6 years ago to the day…..6 years since I stepped on Italian cobblestones. Since I smelt the burning wood in fireplaces in Molina, lake Como. Since I watched the colour palette change across the day over the mountains and the lake. Since I felt the real magic of Christmas. Since we wandered the Christmas mercatini. Since I felt truly happy to be in my most favourite place in the world…. Italy 🇮🇹 it’s been way too long…..💔 #italy #lakecomo #molina #italianchristmas by @dtcerra

Fontana Pretoria, Palermo, Sicilia. A stunning monument filled with nudes, nymphs and mermaids. I took this photo at night and it was just beautiful in the moonlight. #palermo #italy #sicily #sicilia #fontanapretoria #sculptural #sculpture #art #sicilia_super_top #sicilia_photogroup #sicilyitaly #sicily❤️ taken in Palermo, Italy by @dtcerra
