“Book Proof Vest” •(09.25)• Books can be used for many purposes besides obtaining more knowledge. The vest plays on the very real usage of books in the incarcerated culture as protection from stabbing. Inspired by a scene from the Hbo limited series “The Wire”, where a character Omar is incarcerated and has to prepare to be the aggressor before he himself is a victim. The powerful paradox of using a tool that is usually viewed as protection of ignorance in the metaphysical world, instead used as protection from ignorance in the physical world. This is the main element in the Dually Protected essence being able to find dual meaning in all things. Merging the metaphysical and the physical to work as one. Books have always been used for the fortification of your mental space while they can also be used for your fortification of your physical space. taken in New York City by @duallyprotected

Thank you to everyone who came to our Guerilla Gallery, over 150 people showed up to support this powerful program. The night was an opportunity to highlight the incredible artists who embody revolutionary culture, and it also served as a fundraiser to sustain the organization’s work and a portion donated to support political prisoner Kamau Sadiki.
