POSTS STORIES REELS
There are so many phases to writing a story and getting it out into the world in its intended form. For a screenplay, that means ultimately seeing the movie made and watched on a big screen. We’re not there yet for this script, but each step along the way is meaningful and worth pausing to acknowledge. Saturday, October 10th, 2026 was one of those steps. The Scranton Fringe Festival hosted a reading of my screenplay, Finding Matt Damon, and the response was overwhelming. People paid money to come and hear my words and they did not hold back. They laughed hard, they cheered, they hung around afterward to talk, and they expressed an eagerness to see this story told the way it’s meant to be. Many made me promise that one way or another, I will get it made. I agreed. I am so grateful that people took time out of their day to come and see what this crazy idea was all about. For those who don’t know: Sean is a lovesick software developer who is down and out until he meets Jasmine, an aspiring screenwriter who has an idea for a new Jason Bourne reboot and dreams of getting Matt Damon attached. In a misguided attempt to impress her and one-up a rival love interest actor, Sean pretends to know Matt Damon. With the help of his best friend Miles, he then scrambles to try and make it a reality by finding the real Matt Damon and getting him to read her script, otherwise facing public humiliation and ultimately risking his chance at real love. Some screenwriting advice a mentor once gave me was: “Write the movie you would want to watch.” That’s what I did. I created a story and a world where movies blend into real life moments for the characters, with fun twists and turns along the way, and anything can happen. It’s all grounded in a real story about longing for connection. Birthed from some of my own experiences, it explores themes of love, friendship, and identity. Thank you to @writeatwilkes, to @scrantonfringe and @blackscranton for allowing me to take up space, and to the committed and talented director and cast who breathed life into these words! Stay tuned everyone. More to come on this, and many more stories to be told. Write on! @artistsequity by @duane_creates

Sean is an awkward software engineer who falls for Jasmine, an aspiring screenwriter.
