POSTS STORIES REELS

This election cycle began for me with an intense legislative session. It stretched me as a communicator, a publicist, a fundraiser, a strategist, an organizer, a designer, a storyteller, a world builder, a leader, a wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend.

And on Election Day, I got to spend it in the city where it all started for me, with people who have held me some for over a decade, some for only a few years.

May we continue to plant seeds that we may never be able to reap the fruit of. May we always do the deep and cumbersome work of leaving the world better than we found it.

To a Democracy that Black women keep loving deeper than we’ve ever been loved back. 🥂

To another Legislative session, another organizing cycle, another round of late nights on government building floors. Accountability begins tomorrow. ♥️ by @duanecia

Just a PoliSci geek on the morning of her personal Super Bowl. 🥰 Get up and vote! by @duanecia

Happy Birthday to the BOSS! My sister, my confidante, and one of the best people this world has ever known. You deserve every good thing, Binta B. We’re all blessed to be here for your ride.

Love you most! ♥️ by @duanecia

Yesterday my girl @thedaniellehouston completed the NYC Marathon! I have been sick for the past few days but let me tell you, not much could keep me from going down to cheer my girl on after watching her for the better of a year commit her FULL SELF to this process. 🏆

We worked Boule this past summer and Dani was up at 5am before sessions RUNNING chile. Talk about committed. 🥵

Ada, my brother @mrtwotimesz, and I ended up having a blast!

We are soooo proud of you Dani! 🥂 Now go thaw out 🤣

All is well. 🥂♥️ by @duanecia

We had Ada’s first Parent Teacher Conference today and our girl really is exactly who she thinks she is. Described as: creative, curious, joyous, brilliant, matter of fact, an absolute joy to be around! 💁🏾‍♀️✨

Photo Tax: Baby girl’s first class photo.

You see the Virgo-in-Charge she means business!

It’s officially “let’s circle back after the holidays” season 🥃♥️ by @duanecia

I believe in Black creatives with my whole heart. Hiring them, paying them their rate, and keeping them in your plans. It’s one thing to have a business partner, it’s another to create family. This post is for @ikboy.jpg. Earlier this week he let us know he was shifting some things in his process and needed us to download all of our shoots through the years if we wanted to keep our photos. What he did was remind us of almost a decade of love he’s documented.

Professional pursuits, our first apartment together, our engagement, our backyard COVID wedding on Zoom, the birth of The Creative Summer Company, our wedding, our baby shower, some of the last photos of my father and I together, and love.

He has and continues to capture our deep, enduring, unconditional, love.

Support and hold on to Black creativity.

Baby, you’re a Kindergartener now. Mommy and Daddy could not be more proud of you and excited for you!

Sending big hugs to every family navigating big firsts today. Praying safe school years filled with joy and learning for all our children.

Happy First Day of School to all who celebrate!

Richmond, Virginia is home to one of my greatest love stories. A short time in the South birthed a love that never ends. Richmond is where Ada was born, it’s where I became a mother.

Hugs and full hearts with @parlourrva. Chai at @blanchardscoffee, ceviche at @birdiesva, sisterhood at @alewiferva, remembering when everything was new and we were more bright eyed throughout Church Hill. I needed the reminder.

An ode to a love story that keeps writing new pages. Ours. And Richmond. ♥️🥂 by @duanecia
