Sound System Spotlight🔊🔊

ArkLight Sound System is a roots-driven sound system founded in 2019. ArkLight represents a deep personal calling rooted in sound system culture and a lifelong passion for building music from the foundation up.

What began as a vision has grown into a true labor of love, built step by step with the hands-on construction of its own sound system boxes. Through years of saving, learning, and building, ArkLight developed a deep understanding of sound from the inside out, shaping both its tone and its philosophy.

Now continuing to expand, ArkLight focuses on original music releases, including vinyl, while bringing together artists, selectors and fellow sound systems. The mission is to unite people through music, strengthen community, and share a positive message rooted in conscious vibration and heavy bass pressure in true Rootsman style.

Beyond the music, ArkLight is deeply personal Skully says—it is where my heart is. My children and wife love this journey as well, and it has become a place that feels like home. I truly love every aspect of it, especially the ability to share, learn, and grow through the process.

It has been a great joy, and I approach it as a lifelong mission with deep humility and gratitude.

Give thanks for life, love, and everyday people

🌴 Iration After-Party 🌴

This Saturday, May 23rd, Iration is coming to town and we have partnered up as a local community to keep the vibes flowing!

Starting at 10 PM, we will be at the @exchangebarbershop_wilmington with an eclectic mix of local DJs playing a full range of tunes in the Reggae world. From classic Reggae and Dub sounds to more modern electronic takes on the genre, the selections will curate a perfect night time dance party for any Reggae lover.

Providing sound, we have our friends at @arklight_sound_system bringing their traditional Jamaican styled sound system. This system will provide a genuine Reggae sound system experience; one that’s not only an audio experience, but a physical and spiritual experience as well!

The Exchange Barbershop & Lounge is conveniently located in Downtown Wilmington and is one of the closest bars to Live Oak Bank Pavilion. This space features a full service cocktail bar, an incredible lounge area, and plenty of room to dance!

This is a free event. Donations are accepted and your support is greatly appreciated.

💡Artist Spotlight 💡

We would like to introduce a special guest for this show, @phist919

PHIST is a bass music project curated by Raleigh-based Joshua Friese.

Donning a curious mind derived from a deep respect for roots music history and sound system culture, he has successfully navigated the music industry wielding his appreciation of the boundaries of audio and technology since 2017.

💡 Artist Spotlight 💡

We’d like to introduce two of our support artists for the upcoming Dub Coast show this weekend. We have @rhynogmusic joining us from Myrtle Beach along with the local @jahva.wav:

RhynoG, known for his genre-blending productions that range from hard-hitting dubstep to introspective downtempo, has built an impressive catalog over the past two years with original tunes and collaborations alongside fellow artist MoffMang. Join him as he dives into the sounds of reggae influenced music and plays a set different than what you may usually see him play, while staying true to the signature sound and creative mixing that RhynoG is well known for.

———

Jahva is a project formed by Jahvon Parker in 2023 as a way to share his musical interests with the world. You may already know him as the host of Wilmintons weekly Dub Church event, Jahvon Parker has put his time into building a safe place and hang out for our beloved scene. Jahva’s sets take you on an trip into the unknown, covering vast genres of music from all over the globe. Organic beats and worldly music meets glitchy basslines and experiemental dub - you never know where a Jahva set will take you next. With influences like Quanta & other artists on the Shanti Panti label, Jahva has made his place in the Wilmington scene with his unique style - listeners often find themselves enjoying new genres of music and songs to fall in love with. While Jahva has a focus on dance and worldy music, his sets often build up to become heavier than ever expected with tracks from his favorite 140 artists like Truth, Colt Cuts & Ashez. Jahva will bring the energy up and keep the crowd on their toes, never knowing what will come next. Be sure to catch Jahva and the Deep End Crew at your local events taken in Wilmington, North Carolina by @dubcoastevents
