I'm running two special Halloween-themed face painting classes on Sunday 18th and 25th October.⁠

We'll cover proper face painting techniques, with a spooky seasonal twist and lots of little tricks to make painting easier once you know them.⁠

These colours are SO interesting.

Kryolan Pintura is a water-activated, glycerin-based face and body paint. Glycerin-based paints have a softer consistency and blend beautifully, so they're particularly nice for shading and more painterly work, where you're building and blending colour almost like an oil painting.

But it's the colour range that really caught my attention.

Terracotta, caramel, honey, peach... loads of those slightly muted, unusual shades that are much less common in traditional face paint ranges.

They're particularly interesting for creatures, characters and fantasy work, where more muted and complex colours can create more naturalistic skin transitions and make the finished paint feel less graphic and more integrated with the skin.

And even better, they're currently reduced. by @dublinbodypaint

Delighted to be back in St Joseph's College this week for another year of teaching SFX makeup and paint effects to Transition Year students.

A whole lot of bruises in one little wheel.

The Kryolan Bruise Color Circle is an SFX kit staple for a reason.

When you're painting a bruise, think of it like drawing a map. Create little areas of different colours, with irregular shapes and edges, and let some overlap into others.

You're looking for something organic rather than something too neat or mathematical.

September is the perfect excuse to learn something new, and with Halloween on the way, face painting seems like a pretty good place to start.⁠

My one-day class is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who wants to improve their technique. We keep the group small, so there's plenty of time for individual help and lots of hands-on practice.⁠

A relaxed Sunday, plenty of paint, and a new skill just in time for Halloween. 🎃⁠

I'm getting really into loose, free-flowing UV designs lately.⁠

I like learning to trust the process a bit more.
Worrying less about every brushstroke and more about how the whole piece comes together.⁠
