Received a note from a friend that summarized this new chapter better than we could have. Thanks, Kitty.

Musings from our three-year-old visitor this week:

⭐Why do you have the biggest house I've ever seen? (We're still trying to figure this out ourselves)

⭐You should have more toys. (Duly noted for next time)

⭐Are you sure you should be grilling by yourself? (Not really)

⭐Is your husband sleeping over? (Um, yes)

⭐I wish there were frogs in this pond. (I'm not sure there aren't)

⭐Did you make this couch? (😂)

We could feel the house fulfilling its purpose as our 4th gen visitors put the multi in multi-generational 💖

Seeing it through their eyes provided a little extra magic.🪄 by @ducksrest

We finally figured out what this obelisk at the property corner used to be.

At some point in its history, after its original service expired, somebody else painted it a rust red color that was chipped and peeling. Had it not already been painted I'd have probably left it alone.

Scraping and painting it has been on my mind... and then Mr Ducks Rest not only suggested a nod to the 250th birthday of our nation, but was willing to do the wire brush and priming prep work for me so that I could just show up and do the fun stuff 💥

But of course! by @ducksrest

You can't rush it. You can't yank it. And if you think brute force is the answer, you're about to learn something. by @ducksrest

Water is funny.

In the garden we celebrate every inch of rain. We watch for it. Wait for it. And complain when it doesn't come.

On a 123-year-old house though, water has a different story.

This spring brought a major round of trim repair three stories up along with an entirely new gutter system. Not a glamorous project. Just the work that quietly protects everything else.

A good garden depends on getting water where you want it.

A good old house depends on keeping it away from where you don't.

Here's to fresh paint, sound wood, and gutters doing exactly what they're supposed to do.

The flowers get the rain.

The house gets the downspouts.

Everybody wins. by @ducksrest

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.

And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”

So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
