Hi all, I am excited to announce that I am officially part of Brooks Running Collective as their ambassador to kick-off my 2024 running season!

As many of you know, I returned to running last year after not running since the pandemic. Last year I had the best running year I ever had, breaking almost every PRs I had previously held.

This year I look to replicate that success with the Brooks Running Family.

Week 5️⃣: 48.04 Miles | ⬆️ 11.34 Miles

“Not every week is about running your best. Some weeks are about refusing to quit.”

This week, almost nothing went according to plan but somehow, we made it through.

Tuesday, I thought I crushed my track workout… until I realized I was supposed to run 5 × 1 mile, not 3. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Wednesday’s “easy” 10-miler turned into one of the toughest runs I’ve had in a while. 😩 Then Thursday, the AQI spiked to nearly 500, forcing me onto the treadmill for my tempo workout. 💩

Then Saturday I skipped my scheduled 8 miles to play basketball… which turned out to be a terrible idea. I ended up bruising myself pretty badly, then spent 5 hours standing for the World Cup Final on already exhausted legs Sunday. 😭

Somehow, despite all of that, I managed to salvage the week by finishing my 16-mile long run.

Heading into Week 6, my legs are definitely feeling the wear and tear, but that’s all part of the process.

What’s a marathon training cycle without a little adversity? Right? 😂🏃‍♂️

Week 4️⃣: 36.70 miles | ⬇️ 14.75 miles (Cutback Week)

“Showing up isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being consistent.”

This was a cutback week, so I thought I’d feel fresh… but I actually felt sluggish most of the week. I missed my track workout on Tuesday morning and completely skipped my tempo run on Thursday because my body just wasn’t responding.

Instead of forcing it, I listened. I made up the track workout later in the day, had one of my best sessions yet, and finished today’s long run feeling strong and completely in control.

Sometimes the best training decision is knowing when to back off so you can come back stronger. One missed workout won’t define your marathon—but months of consistency will.

Week 4 complete. On to Week 5. 💪🏃‍♂️

Goal: Sub-3 Chicago.

Week 3️⃣: 51.45 miles - ⬆️ 6.67 miles
“Success belongs to those who show up, especially on the days they don’t feel like it.”

Started the week battling the heat and humidity, but showed up anyway. Ended the week with a 4 on the 4th race w/ my brudder JG, felt strong and controlled the entire way, then followed it up this AM by crushing a great 15-mile long run of this training block.

Every run won’t feel great, but every run has a purpose. Keep showing up. Keep trusting the process. Looking forward to week #4.

“Those who commit to nothing are distracted by everything.”
Another solid week back. 6 of 7 days running. Trusting the plan. Trusting the process.
I appreciate all the support along the way.

Week 1️⃣: 41.06 miles | 5h 54m of running 🏃‍♂️

This week marked the first time I’ve ever run 6 days in a row.

One thing I’ve learned already is that the real victory isn’t crossing the finish line at Chicago Marathon on October 11. The real win is the work you put in day after day to get there.

Waking up early. Putting in the miles. Showing up even when you don’t feel like it. Those small wins start stacking, and before you know it, they become something much bigger.

The finish line is just the celebration of all the work that happened long before race day.

Hope everyone’s training got off to a great start this week. Tomorrow is a well-earned rest day, then it’s back to work on Tuesday for Week 2. 💪🏽

For a long time, running was a huge part of my daily routine.

Lately, life has looked a little different. 🥲

Between work, family responsibilities, home projects, and everything else that comes with adulthood, staying active hasn’t always been the priority. Some days, just making it through the day feels like enough.

What I’ve learned is that movement doesn’t always have to mean marathon training, chasing PRs, or logging big miles. Sometimes it’s a walk around the neighborhood. Sometimes it’s a quick workout in the garage. Sometimes it’s simply choosing to show up for yourself, even when life gets busy.

That’s why I’ve been enjoying Brooks’ new lifestyle collection. It’s comfortable enough for the everyday moments and versatile enough for wherever the day takes me.

Because even when running isn’t the focal point, living an active lifestyle still is. Thank you Brooks for these amazing pieces. 💙
