Je m’appelle Ryan, and neither my Spanish nor French are great. I really enjoy travel, poutine, and pie - if anyone has an opening for a traveling pie connoisseur LMK. Seriously.

I read a lot, endeavor to continually learn and improve, and am a purveyor of (too many?) stolen catch phrases. And I intentionally try to avoid deriving my identity from my employment or successes; rather, I am an undeserving son and strive to be a loving husband and doting father.

But attempting to keep what I do or enjoy at arms length from who I am doesn’t negate the fact that I am fortunate to make a living doing super cool things at a very high level thanks in no small part to great partners and a lot of hard work.

I own several (very) small companies, some serve to solve huge global pains while others alleviate local discomfort, but my 8y/o self would be most stoked that I get paid to race cars. I have over 150 rally starts, won multiple national rally championships in the US and Canada in the past couple of years, and am planning to win more. And I intend to win a championship in Mexico at some point because I like the terms “hat-trick” and “trifecta.” Speaking of Mexico, I have become a taco snob after bouncing through the Baja desert, typically for 1000 miles at a time, for more than ten years. Oh, and Dakar 2029-ish here I come. 🤘

When not with family, or racing in some form, I’m helping build @steamcathedral and the next generation become the best version of themselves. Because if a nobody like me can fail forward into a modicum of success in life and motorsports, how much more can our youth achieve if a collective of experienced guides highlight a path around a few of life’s potholes along their way?

That’s really the only reason I still have an IG account; yes, I post to highlight my partners and publicly express my gratitude to those who make these opportunities possible, but if I can “influence” anyone it is to do this – stop wishing and start doing: 1) put down your phone 2) make a plan 3) begin putting one foot in front of the other 4) iterate 5) rinse and repeat with consistency and intention.

Headed into the last national ARA rally with @elizajanecoleman this week; @lakesuperiorperformancerally here we come!

Eliza has intelligently increased her ability, confidence, and commitment level all season while also finishing every stage (62) of the five events she has run this year - due in part to the hard work of @streetwise_motorsports, @josh__eggert, and @caleb_614. I have no reason to expect any different on this final stop of her 2026 “If Not Now, When?” national tour and I’m looking forward to the always fun roads and great views in the UP. Rally on! 🤘

More progress made in Minnesota.

Happy to continue to play a role in @elizajanecoleman’s continued growth at @ojibweforestsrally, and help her achieve her first national @ara_rally podium and reclaim top-spot in the NA4WD championship with two races to go.

Thanks as always to the volunteers for battling the hordes of mosquitoes and to @streetwise_motorsports, @josh__eggert, and @caleb_614 for all their work, especially the copious hours in the shop (with @senditnexgenmotorsports) following Rally Colorado, to give us a solid car to confidently rip through the flowy roads.

See you in Tennessee at @overmountain_rally; rally on! 🤘

I planned to spend last week hanging out with a few horses on my friend’s ranch in Colorado but then I was asked to work with a LOT more horses in Michigan…

Two days of racing and a last-minute flight change later, I found myself at Michigan International Speedway piloting a manual 826hp FP800S Mustang in formation on the oval before roasting the tires off a crew-cab FP700S F150 and then jumping back in the Mustang to film on the road course.

Originally we were tasked to be ride-along instructors as media sampled 800hp Mustangs and 700hp F150s and Raptor Broncos during a Ford event for their Custom Garage initiative. And we did. On Wednesday.
But Tuesday...much more fun was had as the cameras and smoke were rolling. 😁

@ford has nailed it with their entire Custom Garage offering; the equipped vehicles are an absolute riot to drive, yet unlike some other Detroit offerings they aren’t actively trying to kill you. They remain sensibly controllable and reliable; the five trucks we ran each performed at least 96 flat-out drag passes driven mostly by novices across the day with nary a hiccup or scary moment. And the exhaust note...I’m currently devising a plan to buy a baker’s dozen for myself and all my neighbors so that I can continually bask in that siren’s song. But as fun as the vehicles were, the highlight for me was getting to pay homage to my grandpa by wearing his old Ford jacket while filming around the oval in a Mustang. ♥️

A heartfelt thank you to @elebardha and @corrinaroshea for thinking of me and bringing me into their highly talented fold for the fun; I hope we get to do more jobs together again soon. 👍

Finally took a break from seemingly endless around-the-clock weeks at the shop (BIG things coming soon @steamcathedral!) and headed west for @rallycolorado a couple weeks ago where the landscape was as beautiful, and weather as scorching, as it is every year.

Not one to slow down herself, @elizajanecoleman somehow made time while being a doting grandmother and filming both a movie and season three of The Pitt to schedule in both kart training and a day at @teamoneil to keep her skills polished.

And it showed; despite not having driven the rally car since Olympus, Eliza came off the line during testing in Colorado with a surprising amount of confidence that we endeavored to carry through the event. She threw down very solid times on Saturday and played a smart defensive game on Sunday to try to preserve the car that was otherwise being abused in the high altitude, roiling heat, and rocky roads.

During the long climbs the car would sit at 249ºF (as high as our ECU is set to read) requiring us to run with the heat blowing at full-blast during most of Sunday resulting in cabin temps well past 120ºF. Despite all the difficulties that this rally always presents, and a flat tire, Eliza still never put a wheel wrong during the entire race and we were rewarded with a class win and 15th overall in the national. Oh, and an advance rebate check from Subaru for a head gasket kit that we surely now need. 😬

At the risk of sound like a broken record, huge thanks to @streetwise_motorsports for yet again providing a car that can take the kind of abuse we threw at it – something 1/3 of the field can’t say. We played our role in the car and @josh__eggert and @caleb_614 played theirs in service and now we head to Minnesota next month is a solid position to defend our ’25 NA4WD championship.

Thank you to the Rally CO organizers and all the volunteers for your selfless work; I hope your sunburns are healed and your skin is no longer peeling off in entire sheets!

Good time jumping (see what I did there?!) back in the car with @elizajanecoleman at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood last month. Now it’s time to head to the PNW for @olympusrally, which is extra long this year, at just a tick over 200 stage miles. 🤘

We have her trusty NA (6 cyl) Subaru WRX being run by our @streetwise_motorsports friends, @josheggert_axethrowing and @caleb_614, and look forward to the always fun @greendiamondrc forest roads.

First rally of 2026 is now in the archives.

I’m proud of my homie Nick Woodman for an outstanding rally debut in some seriously difficult conditions at @snodriftrally. In his first rally he managed to bring the car home in 6th overall and 2nd in a stacked national L4WD class - a fantastic result and a testament to his composure, growth mindset, and willingness to listen.

We’re grateful to the entire @argonaut.mc crew for their professionalism and attention to detail; results like this only happen when the whole team executes. I also appreciate the trust both Nick and AMC placed in me to guide the effort to a successful conclusion - from our first test session in mid-January at @teamoneil to the frozen podium step in Michigan, everything went to plan. 😎

Back in the car tomorrow - albeit a different Subaru - testing for the next round of the 2026 @ara_rally national season, in Missouri for @100awrally. This time with @elizajanecoleman, with help from @streetwise_motorsports, as we kick off her national campaign to defend our ‘25 national NA4WD Cup championship against a deep and strong field.

I’m blessed to have a wife and kids whom I enjoy being around immensely, so during this break in race travel I’m deleting IG off my phone and taking a social hiatus until sometime in ‘26 to be truly present with them.

Thankful to have been invited to Baja to race the SCORE Baja 1000 yet again, and for safely crossing the finish line in a race where only 52% of the field finished.

@streetwise_motorsports and I headed down a week early to prerun with our trusty crew @cole.wendland and @caleb_614 chasing. I managed to note most of the course for the @homemademotorsports and @racing905, except for about a 150mi along the pacific coast, and ate tacos every day. #winning

The @rzrfactoryracing race car is indescribably better than the stock RZR we had been campaigning, which now serves as a proper prerunner.

Our race went pretty well and, other than a pesky rock that broke a rear wheel off and bent some bits early into the race and a 2AM delay when we got into a prickly situation trying to avoid a broken competitor, we ran a respectably quick steady pace.

Oh, and zero flat tires! Thank you, @bfgoodrichtires, for making the best offroad tires and for supporting the desert offroad racing community for so many years. ❤️

Big thanks to Doug and Brandon for having me back, to Cole and Caleb for being such a dependable chase crew that we never have to worry, and to all the Homemade and Racing 905 team personnel for keeping us moving throughout the race.

Already looking forward to an increased number of desert races in my ‘26; stay tuned for updates… 😉

Super pleased with Scott Pedersen’s continued development; four events in and he’s still driven every mile. 🤘

Despite being thrown in the deep end with yet another new event AND a new car he continued to drive smart and intelligently increased his pace in a sustainable manner throughout the duration of the rally. Though this is the first time he missed the podium, his overall growth and number of “aha moments” unlocked without incident across the event has me excited about his potential.

Big thanks to @racing_vinc, JP, David, Chris, and the entire Argonaut Motor Club crew for their professional attention throughout the weekend - it was impossible to find a car cleaner than the 208 each time we left service. And thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help put on the rally - I hope you all had as much fun as we did. 👍
