Received this deck today from the Koku Studio @thekokustudio and it’s lovely.

What a message I pulled - “Impermanence is a condition of being alive”. Powerful, simple - a lesson in humility, a lesson in the appreciation of how fragile the act of living is…and that it should be.

Also speaks to the change we all need to embrace - it comes at us so aggressively every day. But we don’t need to live the ride standing on the handlebars of a motorbike flying around wildly. The Wheel of Fortune card in tarot reminds us, calls us to live in the center of the crazy.

“The cure to pain is in the pain.”

What haunts us more? The pain of the mirror of our memories and our self-analysis or the pain of being confronted by another with the reality of our humanity, being flawed.

I’ve never been scared by any Tarot imagery or language. What scares me most is the message, not because they are inaccurate, but because they are too real.

The Tarot is a gift - receive the message and think. Sometimes I encounter people and think, “I wonder if they understand themselves…or would even admit to not understanding themselves.”

Should I be surprised when I ask the Universe through the Tarot how I can be better, “more” - it finds a way to just rephrase what it’s told me a 1,000 times…“The cure to pain is in the pain.”

And then it throws me the likes of The Fool and Page of Wands…you are living if you are in pain…because you’re living.

It’s just a nudge that you’re ok, I’m ok, we’re ok. Just do. Keep on moving. Movement is so much more than physical.

Grow, think, fail, succeed. It never ends. It just refines, replaces, repeats…and it’s ok. Shape shift. Be a shapeshifter. When you stop changing, you die.

Layers, textures, living above and below the ground…the beauty of the “wisdom…in the quiet. May you honor the small and unseen”.

Worms are among the creatures that form the bedrock of nature, composting to bring forth new life through food and fertilizer. The Empress honors their creation, the worms return the honor with service - the unsung hero. There is reciprocity in nature that humans have slowly neglected and forgotten.

The 9 of Pentacles - the gift of connection and interconnection lies within each of us.

The Mentor/King of Swords - a challenge because it is so hard to feel and express these beautiful virtues during these disturbing, volatile times.

The 3 of Cups - perhaps reframing them as both a calming exercise for ourselves, as well as a lesson for stepping back to see the larger community of beings here on Earth in peril as we grapple with division, fear, and discrimination of all sorts.

The discrimination is political, social, and economic and is a disease that must be tended to with the medicine of care and generosity.

The Snake Plant has somewhat unique filtering characteristics, perhaps more so than other plants. The filtering is cleansing, clearing, purifying. Taking stock, “inventory” of the clutter of our minds and thought patterns.

Thoughts shape our actions. Actions shape our movement.

“I am deeply focused on forward progress.” 2713 - Mindfulness from the Angel Numbers Oracle piggybacks on a recent post of mine about understanding who you are and where you’re going.

Affirmations water the seeds of our intentions. I am going to tell myself at least one thing I believe about myself and how that shapes my intention for the day. It’s a sweet gift to yourself.

My version of the Great Pyramid - I’m sure there are spreads floating around that may be the same or similar - who knows but I just randomly pulled this out of my bum lol

1. The wide foundational base, left to right, pulled as such:
~ Death - The High Priestess - Wheel of Fortune ~

2. The bridge between the 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd respectively, by subtracting the two cards of each segment - how to envelop, digest, process, and float between your phases:
~ Death minus The High Priestess is Justice ~
~ The High Priestess minus The Wheel of Fortune is Strength ~

3. Repeat the next rung similarly to meet the Pyramidion, the apex, the capstone whose meaning is singularly visible:
~ Justice minus Strength is The Empress ~

The only way to kill that part of you that gnaws at you in your dreams, in the darkest moments of the night is through Her, your inner eye, speaking to your Soul directly, asking for help from your guides, and bypassing your brain logic, to the place where voice has no place. That is the only way to stand erect in the midst of a typhoon, the unexpected storm hiding behind your blinding delusional Sun.

Cleave determination as your dagger, as you will need its sharp blade to excise that part of you. You will need your primal instinct to do so but with careful attention - remove the diseased, keep the healthy tissue.

What you are left holding is beauty, contentment, peace. They say that the only way out is through. Be intentional, think about who you want to be and how you want to get there…but start.

I normally read left to right but today it made more sense to read it right to left…feeling anxious and stressed lately and wanted to understand how to approach it…

Giving in to the overwhelming energy doesn’t mean giving up. It’s just another question of how…I go back to my favorite sentiment lately:

“We give so that life continues. We receive so that we may give again.”

The simple act of doing something for another person, as small as encouragement or acknowledgment comes back in unexpected ways, like calming the anxious mind via a generous spirit.

Yesterday I saw a snail on the house. It was slimy and charming. It seemed content just being a snail. It was unexpected.

A simple, almost childlike view of daily living like the Seeker (Page) of Pentacles.

Just to see you there

Look and touch the world because it’s so magical. I’m trying not to forget to be human. That’s my task every day.

I’m enjoying The Wildwood Tarot so far. I love the Wheel of the Year and I think next year starting February 1st with Imbolc I’m going to my own year with the deck.

I would prefer borderless cards but I am not talented enough to trim decks. Tried and failed in the past.

Regardless, the imagery, art, and archetypes are speaking to me, especially through the Winter I think this will proof inspiring and educational for me.

Persephone whispers “honors the cycles within you” - soon she will journey down to the Underworld and the air will grow cold. Fall, Winter - cycles of time and weather, climate, and season.

Cycles are hard - they reaffirm that we sometimes hold less power than we think when the Universe controls so much. Physical, mental, economic, biological, cosmic - cycles fuel our movement. They are the renewable energies of the Universe.

Torn between theory and practice, the Two of Disks reminds us of our charge to “go to ground” like Persephone as Autumn deepens, as the 3 of Wands insists we do so, “come inside” it utters.

The High Priestess says to the Two of Disks - “what does your inner voice say?” The voice that speaks in your mind with no sound but clarity of purpose.

The Magician looks right and asks the Three of Wands, “how should I use my power?”

What do you have the power to change and inform? How can you translate the inner voice to action?…Practice informed by theory.

Read, study, meditate (no you don’t need to do yoga or chant. Sometimes music, a walk, hot shower, writing can suffice 🧙)

Don’t think too much. Gets us all into trouble. Sometimes you just need to do.

Interesting that I pulled the Ace of Cups on the 1st of October…

What is a cup, if not a cauldron?
Where is my place to brew my life?
What is my cauldron to concoct my spell?

I love this version from the Magical Nature Tarot of the Ace of Cups, because if you flip it upside down, it looks like the moon is in the sky, almost like a cosmic vending machine or water fountain, bestowing their gifts upon you.

“Everything is an offering. We give so that life continues. We receive so that we may give again.”

Hestia - I was thinking about her recently. I saw a statue in front of a house and she came to mind. Keeper of the Hearth and Flame…”holding the center”.

Fall began a little bit ago. Is Ceridwen and Hestia calling me to tend to my flame and cauldron at home?…begin the preparation for the Winter - holding and tending to what’s close?

Become a new version of yourself.

Tend to your cauldron - any container metaphorically or literally that you hold things in.
