The Wanderlust Bug

We’ve been bitten … and are smitten.
There’s no known cure.

I was up waiting for the full lunar eclipse on Thursday night when clouds gathered and denied me. Third eclipse in a row!!! 🤨

We took the direct flight from Norfolk (HIGHLY recommend) and got to San Juan last night. I am already planning a full travel plate for 2027. It seems the second longest solar eclipse of the 21st century will occur in August 2027. Who knew? I’m not sure when the longest will happen, but chances are this one is my best bet.

So where is the best place to view it without clouds? I just found out.

Don’t tell Debbie, but the Morocco planning has started. Any suggestions are welcome.

Here are two fave photos from Egypt: where Deb made her pilgrimage to honor her fave Egyptian deity and where the ultimate dad joke was played on the Sphinxter.

Have bags. Will travel. 🧳 Wishing all a great weekend. by @duffpilot

Paris — I realized it was the best place I really didn’t think I wanted to visit. We’ll definitely come back to explore. Stunningly beautiful. by @duffpilot

There’s a legend here that if you can reach your arms around the Celtic Cross in Glendalough and touch your fingers, you’ll be granted your greatest wish.

Looks like we might have to expand the ancestral archives research beyond County Cork and County Sligo.

Methinks Marty and Paddy might’ve been on their way to or from the Jameson Distillery in Dublin and stopped at Glendalough for some monastic blessings. by @duffpilot

This shot was taken on our way back to our place on La Rambla after the victory celebrations started to wind down.

I really have to hand it the folks here for giving us a huge end to our stay here . . .

. . . Speaking of “handing it to a huge end” — please disregard the couple in the background. They are not part of our group.

Don’t even look.

Definitely don’t zoom in.

So great to be in Barcelona with France down 1-0 to Spain at the half to a team whose star player plays for the team here. It’s electric. The second half has started. 🤞 by @duffpilot

June.
Specifically, June 11th.
Another favorite day.
Today, Debbie and I were blessed to celebrate the high school graduation of our second grandchild (1st granddaughter, Kali) as well as the birth of our sixth grandchild (baby June). So fortunate and so grateful. by @duffpilot

Tip-in of a lifetime to cap off the comeback of the year. Way to go Knicks. Let’s finish this up in San Antonio. Another great game by both teams. by @duffpilot

I like to grill but mostly just for visitors. It’s important to keep track of who wants what and to start the various well done (yuck), medium, and medium-rare or rare cuts at different intervals. It’s particularly rewarding when all the cuts finish at the same time and especially how each cut of meat has perfect grill marks. Folks always ask me how I do it.

I tell them how to calculate the timing. As for the perfect grill marks, I never tell . . . but here’s a hint . . . by @duffpilot
