🥧💥 THE DEANS GOT PIED! 💥🥧

Our Advisory Deans bravely stepped up to the plate… and our students brought the whipped cream (and chocolate)!

Last Thursday, five lucky students got the chance to pie their Advisory Dean, all while raising money for the Duke Cancer Fund within Duke Cancer Institute. 💙 Swipe through for the best moments from the day, including some close-ups, happy winners, and plenty of school spirit!

Most importantly, every donation supports the Duke Cancer Fund, helping Duke Cancer Institute advance breakthrough research, provide patient-centered care, and direct resources toward the areas where they can make the greatest difference!

A huge thank you to our Advisory Deans for being such good sports and to everyone who donated and helped make this event possible! 🫶💙

🎓 Congratulations to Lucas Collins, who is graduating with his MD from Duke University School of Medicine.

Lucas chose Duke in part because of the sense of community he experienced early in his clinical work, sharing, "But it didn’t take long to realize what makes this place so special. The sense of community, support, and genuine fun helped shape me not just professionally as a 21-year-old, but personally as well."

He was drawn to medicine through his interest in teaching, mentorship, and building meaningful relationships with patients.

Lucas will begin an Internal Medicine residency with plans to specialize in gastroenterology, while continuing to mentor future physicians.

One of the best parts of the Duke University School of Medicine experience: the people who are there through it all.

Fourth-year MD students Lucy Cummins, Sarah Ouellette, and John Kyle Cook have been part of each other’s daily routines since their first year at Duke University School of Medicine.

They're remained close, texting each other every day (sometimes hourly!) through every phase of medical school.

Now as their time at Duke is wrapping up, there’s excitement for what’s next alongside the reality of saying goodbye to the place and friendships that shaped their time here. No matter the distance or time zone, they are planning to stay just as close. 💙 by @dukemdprogram
