Strengthening Bengaluru’s Mobility Planning Through Public-Private-Academic Collaboration

A collaboration between DULT (Government of Karnataka), IISc, and Bosch Ltd. has resulted in the Aggregate Multimodal Mobility Model (M3DM), a first-of-its-kind tool now supporting the development of Bengaluru’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) in real time.

This initiative is a strong example of how government, research institutions, and the private sector can come together to create real impact, ensuring a unified, data-driven approach to shaping the city’s transport future.

To disseminate effective use of the M3DM model and its software tools, IISc conducted capacity-building training sessions for key stakeholders, DULT, BDA, GBA, BMRDA, and DTCP (Module 1 – March 2026, Module 2 – July 2026), as well as consultants engaged on the Bengaluru CMP, ensuring consistency and technical rigor across the planning process.

A strong step toward smarter, more coordinated urban mobility planning for Bengaluru.

ನಗರ ಭೂ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಾಲಯ (DULT), ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ (IISc) ಮತ್ತು Bosch Ltd. ನಡುವಿನ ಸಹಯೋಗವು ಆಗ್ರಿಗೇಟ್ ಮಲ್ಟಿಮೋಡಲ್ ಮೊಬಿಲಿಟಿ ಮಾಡೆಲ್ (M3DM) ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಒಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಚಲನಶೀಲತಾ ಯೋಜನೆಯ (CMP) ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ನೈಜ-ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಸರ್ಕಾರ, ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಖಾಸಗಿ ವಲಯ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿ ನೈಜ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಬಹುದು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಉಪಕ್ರಮವು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಬಲ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಗರದ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಲು ಏಕೀಕೃತ, ದತ್ತಾಂಶ-ಆಧಾರಿತ ವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

M3DM ಮಾದರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್‌ವೇರ್ ಪರಿಕರಗಳ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ, IISc ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾಲುದಾರರಿಗೆ; DULT, BDA, GBA, BMRDA ಮತ್ತು DTCP (ಮಾಡ್ಯೂಲ್ 1 – ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 2026, ಮಾಡ್ಯೂಲ್ 2 – ಜುಲೈ 2026), ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು CMP ಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವ ಸಲಹೆಗಾರರಿಗೂ ತರಬೇತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದು, ಇದರಿಂದ ಯೋಜನಾ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ನಗರ ಭೂ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಾಲಯ (Directorate of Urban Land Transport) ದಲ್ಲಿ, ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ತಂಡಗಳು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ನಂಬುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ 2ನೇ ಮತ್ತು 4ನೇ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ, ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡವು ರಚನಾತ್ಮಕ ತಂಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದು ಮುಕ್ತ ಸಂವಹನ, ಸಹಯೋಗ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಇವು ಸಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶಗಳಾಗಿವೆ.

ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಕಬ್ಬನ್ ಪಾರ್ಕ್‌ಗೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಈ ಉಪಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಭೇಟಿಯು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯಗಳ ವಿಮರ್ಶಾತ್ಮಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಮಾಪನವನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ತಂಡ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಯೋಜಿಸಿತು ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ನಾವು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಲೇ, ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಸೌಹಾರ್ದತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಶ್ವತ ನೆನಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.

The project, implemented by DULT with financial assistance of 1,276 million Yen (JPY) from the Government of Japan, covers smart traffic signals at 28 junctions along MG Road & part of Old Madras Road, operational since December 2024.

DULT is delighted to announce that our research paper, titled “The impact of metro on spatial characteristics - case study of Rajaji Nagar metro station”, has been awarded the first runner-up prize for poster presentation at the International Land Use Symposium (ILUS), which took place in Ahmedabad from October 4 to 6, 2023.

This paper examines how the metro rail system influences the urban form and land use patterns of the city, using Rajaji Nagar as a case study.
