It was an absolutely gorgeous day, so the family and I hit the beach with a plan to kayak out some bait and break in a new rod. @delcotackle , in collaboration with @dumacustomrods , built an absolute masterpiece on the CTS VaporTRAIL and trusted me to put it to work and capture some content. Naturally, I was just hoping anything would hit so I could get a feel for it.
Boy, did I get a feel for it.
(Side bar: this rod makes you feel like you’ve been fishing in 1080p your whole life, and from your first cast to your first contact—whether it’s your plug or whatever’s on the other end of the line—it’s like you’re suddenly fishing in 8K. Hyper-sensitive—every bend, flex, and bump. Absolutely incredible.)
I started with the drag loose to make sure I got a solid hookup on the initial strike, but once it was time to put the brakes on, I realized quickly this fish had other plans.
When we finally got him to shore, the reaction from everyone on the beach said it all. I overheard someone say, “No one’s going to believe this—a hammerhead came up at the beach today.” It’s not something you see often. This curious juvenile hammer rolled in looking for an easy meal and found one he couldn’t pass up.
Grateful and blessed to have shared that moment with so many people. Definitely one for the books—and one we’ll never forget. taken in Strait of Hormuz by @dumacustomrods
