I truly enjoyed my visit back to Michigan. It’s been a while, but I missed home. Definitely some needed time away⁣

It’s not everyday that you get to see not one, but two friends get married, let alone to each other. I wish you all the best in your marriage! I am blessed to know you both and to have @lillian__jade as one of my bestest friends! I’m so happy that I got to see this relationship from beginning to end, to a new beginning. You were more than accommodating with my visit, even on your special weekend. Thank you for trusting me to play a part in your weekend and lives. I love you both @oldman_uncle_q and @lillian__jade! #ShineOn #marriedfriends #weekendsaway #michiganliving #celebratelove❤️ #weddingshenanigans #dressuptime #feelingfancy #traveltheusa by @dumbonem

Aside from the mosquitoes and tall grass, going to the ball field is one of my favorites. The reality of my living abroad is I really didn’t get the chance to go out much. Worse during these times. The simplest escapes from the house are welcomed! by @dumbonem

Where does he get this stuff from!? I pray for an endless supply, because it’s the cutest most entertaining part of my life.

Y’all I ADORE this small human! I am hands down bursting with love and laughter for him daily. Thank goodness I had a baby in the age of technology to be able to document these moments. #desertrain #rainyday #dailylaughs #funnybabyvideo #dailyentertainment #toddlertime #threeyearold #outsideadventures #motherlylove #appreciationpost #boymommy #capturingthemoment by @dumbonem

The ignorance is REAL! You’re in a cultural class. Shut up and learn! Is not about how you feel when you’re not the subject. This is not the first time I’ve been in this situation. I remember Freshman Focus, my senior year. Seniors mentored freshman in a class. We watched a video on racism. In the discussion following a kid, not of color, decided that the word needed to be said to make his point. Had to fix that immediately too. Not in my presence you won’t 🙅🏽‍♀️ #ignorance #racism #highereducation by @dumbonem

I hope that these moments stick with him forever. I’m always doing my best to afford him different experiences. We went apple picking 🍎 I even ran into some of my gymnasts all the way out there! Kumina was like hey I know them! I didn’t even pay him any attention. Then the Dad came over to say hi. What are the chances?! #fall #pumpkinpatch #vacation #familyfun by @dumbonem

I low key want locs, but won’t do them. I’m saving time in the morning. Going into work with this commute is NO joke! I want to focus on minimal manipulation and keep my hair growing. These also make wash day easier, but not the restyling. How people leave twists in for weeks and months is beyond me! I do not like the look on me AND I refuse to braid the roots. It makes the take down take so daggone long. I cannot be bothered. So here we are. About three weeks of twists. I’ve redone them twice. Likely wearing them up the rest of the week since we’re at the point where they don’t fall like I want them to and I don’t think I’ll be washing them until the weekend. #naturalhair #4c #protectivestyles #twists by @dumbonem

My scalp was acting up. I know when life stresses or the emotions start flowing my scalp will respond. A shopping trip with my sisters reminded me about this clay mask. The way it purifies my hair is basically miraculous. My hair feels extra soft after deep conditioning and it’s as if the products soaks into my hair more efficiently for peak moisture. It’s a good feeling! I recommend this for your hair at least once a month. I love the treatment on my face too. However, be careful! It can be harsh on the skin. I’ve absolutely burned my mouth area before. Otherwise I HIGHLY recommend this clay mask. #4c #claymask #naturalhair #scalp by @dumbonem

Last weekend we spent a day with my Dad. Watching my parents in this phase of life with the freedoms they didn’t have while raising all of us is beautiful. They are completely different people as grandparents than parents. I’ve built a relationship with them that I never imagined I’d have. One of the many benefits of my divorce. But I’ve also watched age become present ever so slowly. I see my parents regularly as we don’t super fat and my son keeps us connected as they step in to support his upbringing and show up at just about every sporting event. I am determined to continue to be intentional about the time that I spend with them and enjoying the versions of ourselves that we have all grown into. That being said, my local sisters and I have been making a conscious effort to find time to hang out with my parents one on one. We opted for an escape room this time. My Dad is one of the most intelligent people I know. He is an electrical engineer that studies quantum mechanics for fun after all. This was such a welcome challenge and bonding experience. The escape room was so well setup! We did manage to escape and worked together with minimal conflict 😂 (sisters 🙄) we had dinner, went shopping, chatted and enjoyed one another’s company. It’s challenging to get these moments with, I’ll take the blame, my busy schedule. But we’re working on it and it’s ever so rewarding! by @dumbonem

Welcome to me! I am really dedicated to me and taking better care of myself. There’s still room for improvement, but I’m proud of my effort. Pouring from a mostly empty cup that’s stretched, tired and stressed as if it’s full isn’t the business. Making small improvements intentional. Be inspired to do it for yourself too! #datenight #dressup #naturalupdo #4chair by @dumbonem

I want to be the ultimate Mom, but I can feel the strain. I can see the struggle in balancing it all and trying to cover every base alone while having a full time career, juggling extracurriculars, maintaining a house, etc. I do find ways to stay sane. What do you do? When do you outsource or tap out? How do you make it manageable/affordable? #absentfatherhousehold #parenting by @dumbonem

Packing lunch. Crazy thing is I never stopped. Working full time I still packed lunch for his summer program. I just need to be better at filming videos. He LOVES a lunchable. This is more cost effective and isn’t a heavy lift. These snack containers are crazy handy! #lunch by @dumbonem

Kumina ran his second fastest time today!!! The competition is fierce. Several of the boys he’s raced all season also qualified and I’m pretty sure they all hit personal bests! It’s so impressive to see this level of talent! Kumina will run again tomorrow having run a qualifying time! #100m #trackandfield by @dumbonem
