A little sunshine for your walls! 🌻

📸©️Laura Dooley creative flowers. Black eyed Susan’s through the kaleidoscope

One of the things I enjoy about creating fine art photography is imagining how an image might become part of someone’s home.

These cheerful flowers bring such warmth and energy to a room. And I love how the golden yellows play against the blue sofa in this setting.

Art can change the feeling of a space, whether it’s a peaceful landscape, a quiet botanical image, or something filled with color and life.

That’s one of the reasons I love making prints. I want my photographs to be enjoyed beyond a computer screen.

What kind of art are you most drawn to in your home — something colorful and uplifting, or something quiet and calming?

You can explore my fine art collection at www.lupinelightimages.com.

🍁 📸©️Laura Dooley Fall Maple Leaves in red, Juneau Alaska.

I’ve been thinking about how differently we can photograph the same subject.

Autumn leaves can be all about their beautiful color and intricate details, or they can become something softer and more impressionistic.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying the freedom of letting go of some of that sharp detail and concentrating more on the feeling of a scene.

It’s one of the things I love about photography. There isn’t just one way to see something.

So here’s my question for this week’s roll call: Are you naturally drawn to sharp detail and clarity, or do you enjoy experimenting with softness, blur, and a more dreamy interpretation?

I’d love to hear what you’re exploring creatively this week!

Autumn in Alaska is something special. 🍂

📸©️Laura Dooley: Aerial view of southeast Alaska near Juneau.

From above, the landscape becomes a patchwork of gold and green, with winding waterways, distant mountains, and those wonderful clouds that give Southeast Alaska so much character.

One of the things I love about aerial photography is how it changes the way we see familiar places. Patterns emerge, distances shift, and the landscape tells a different story.

I’m always amazed by how much beauty there is to discover when we change our perspective.

Do you prefer seeing Alaska from the air or exploring it from the ground?

Blue ice and quiet water.

There is something almost otherworldly about being this close to glacial ice. The colors, textures and shapes are constantly changing, and on a gray Southeast Alaska day, that blue seems to glow even more intensely.

I’m always drawn to the smaller pieces of the landscape—the curves, patterns and details that can turn something enormous into something almost abstract.

What catches your eye first—the color or the texture?

A little woodland whimsy for your Monday. 🍄

Fall in Southeast Alaska means mushrooms seem to appear everywhere—tucked into the moss, hiding beneath leaves, and sometimes looking as though they belong in a tiny enchanted world of their own.

I love slowing down and looking for these little details. Once you start noticing them, a walk through the forest becomes something of a treasure hunt.

Swipe through for a few of my favorite whimsical finds.

Which one would you stop to photograph?
