A misty family night under a blanket of starsAl Quaa is widely recognized by astronomers and astrophotographers as the ultimate "Milky Way Spot" in the UAE.The Milky Way is a large barred spiral galaxy that contains an estimated 100 to 400 billion stars, along with vast clouds of gas and interstellar dust.Our solar system resides within one of its outer spiral arms, known as the Orion ArmWhen we look up at the Milky Way from Earth, we are looking edge-on into the thick disc of our own galaxy. Because we are viewing billions of stars along a single flat plane, their light blends together to create that distinct, glowing, milky band across the sky. by @dunesandmore
