he’s from brooklyn…i’m from queens.

it was a honor to sit, learn and lean in for 2 hours all things Bible. from old testament to new testament, theology, bible translations, biblical/historical context and the authority of the Word.

born and raised in brooklyn, was balling (🏀like a real new yorker) in college in rhode island, went into the business world. called into ministry, took over a church with under 30 people left and through the weekly prayer meeting, The Brooklyn Tabernacle came to be House of prayer and presence. Church planted Christ Tabernacle (Saints Church), Manhattan Grace Tabernacle, East Side Tabernacle, South Bronx Tabernacle, etc. 83 years old and still leading in an urban context when most of the fled nyc.

our ‘yes’ paves the for many to come after us. my journey in ministry has been what it has been because of his yes. so many friends and ministry peers are leading around the city and country because of what he said yes to. that’s why it’s important to stay planted in a city. there’s influence and credibility attached to your name and life.

i wish more church pastors and planters took his cues and make his famous statement a reality, “the prayer meeting is the most important meeting of the week”.
it’s the engine and the furnace of the church. everything comes out of the prayer meeting! taken in The Brooklyn Tabernacle by @durellrsmith
