I might not be fine. 🥹❤️ Today is my Meghann’s last first day of school—my last baby. After 17 years of kids in school, it’s hard to believe this chapter is ending. My mama heart is breaking a little.

All I ever wanted to be was a mom. To watch my kids grow, cheer them on, and be there for all the little moments along the way.

So this year, I’m going to celebrate all the lasts. I’ll take too many pictures, linger a little longer, and soak in every moment. I’m learning how to let go while holding on to this season for just a little longer.

This is 17.

It’s a little bit grown up, and a little bit still figuring it all out.

It’s coffee runs and drives with friends.

It’s knowing what you want one minute and changing your mind the next.

It’s ACT tests and scholarship deadlines.

College visits and first jobs.

Late nights and early mornings.

Busy school schedules and big decisions.

It’s sass and eye rolls one minute and the best hugs the next.

It’s sitting in her childhood bedroom, missing her already, even though she hasn’t flown yet.

It’s the porch light waiting for her to come home.

It’s the world starting to feel big and adventurous and your home starting to feel small.

It’s lip gloss, fancy makeup, and clothes that look like the ones we wore 25 years ago.

It’s dreaming about her future and aching for the past all in the same breath.

It’s first love, real heartbreak, hard questions, and complicated answers.

It’s watching her pull away a little more each day and reminding her she will always have a safe place to land.

It’s the last year before everything changes.

This is 17.

It’s absolutely beautiful and going way too fast.
