I want to take a moment to share something about one of my closest friends. Someone who has impacted not only my life, but the lives of countless musicians around the world. My friend, Daniel Klein of Port City Amps. Daniel and I met nearly 20 years ago when he offered to let me try some guitar cabs he was building. We were from the same area, and I kept hearing about this brilliant amp builder everyone was talking about. I had no idea that one meeting would turn into a friendship that’s lasted two decades. Over those years, Daniel has driven countless miles to bring me new cabs, pedalboards, and what I still believe are some of the finest handwired amps in the world. He spent endless hours helping me program my rigs, making sure my live sound was the best it could be every single tour. He opened doors for me through endorsements, fueled my obsession with great gear, and constantly pushed me to be better. But what means the most isn’t the gear. Daniel made childhood dreams come true. He helped make signature guitar cabinets and DW speakers a reality, things I never imagined I’d have my name on. He believed in me long before I believed those things were possible, and he always cared about me as a person far more than he cared about my career. If you’ve ever met Daniel, you already know this: he always asks how you’re doing. The conversation is never about him. He’s one of the most selfless people I’ve ever known, the kind of person who’s always willing to drop everything to help someone else. Recently, Daniel was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor and is now in the middle of an incredibly difficult treatment. It’s been devastating for him and his family. So today I’m asking, on behalf of someone who has spent so much of his life helping everyone else, if you would consider helping him. There’s a GoFundMe link in my bio.
