I was honored to create three paintings for @crescentcarenola ‘s flagship location on Elysian Fields. A huge thank you to @artrog504 , who has filled the center with incredible art and invited me to be part of it.

Why streetcars?

Streetcars have carried generations through New Orleans, moving through decades of love, loss, and celebration. In a city that has long welcomed artists, storytellers, misfits, and troublemakers, these streetcars witness the stories of belonging found along the way.

The three paintings explore different chapters of queer life in New Orleans:

“A Streetcar Named Devotion” captures a time when queer life was thriving, even if much of it had to remain hidden. From early gay Mardi Gras balls to the My-O-My Club and the beginnings of gay liberation.

“A Streetcar Named Defiance” reflects a time of loss and resistance. From Anita Bryant to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, our community faced discrimination, stigma, and silence.

“A Streetcar Named Decadence” celebrates a new era of visibility, from the growth of Pride to marriage equality and the freedom to live and love more openly.

I’ve had this shirt for over 30 years.

It’s from grad school, one of the most creative and transformative periods of my life.

A new state.
New ideas.
Pushing my art and animation.
Coming out.
Losing some relationships. Deepening others.

For years, I put my creativity into building an agency and helping other people tell their stories.
This past year having a studio again has reminded me how much I missed telling my own.

I’m excited to start sharing more of what I’m creating, and where this next chapter leads.

Last minute trip to Fire Island/NYC. Great catching up with old friends and having some fun surprise visits.

Even if you saw @titaniquemusical off broadway, go see it again on broadway! @constantinerousouli, @therealjimparsons, @deborahcox, @frankiejgrande … what a cast. Laugh/cried the entire time!

2025 was my most creative year in a long time. It started with a 100-day creative challenge led by @pelegtop, making art and writing every day.

In May, I got my first studio (no more moving work out of our front bedroom every time someone comes to visit)! A space where everything lives together: my books, old and new work, paint, tools, room to experiment, room to make a mess. A place to stencil, to cut things out of magazines, to draw, to paint, and get back into a creative headspace I didn’t realize how much I’d missed.
