Not necessarily a thrift bookshop, but personally I just love the used section of a bookshop. Sometimes you could find a surprising gem (in a bargain!). Also I often find all the marks/handwritings/notes from the previous owner rather comforting.

Here are some of the latest finds + a couple of summer sale steals from @primaryinformation by @duto_hardono

Testing the new Sono Kairo panel with this Ryoji Ikeda-esque patch. Pardon the background noise, only had my phone nearby and too lazy to setup a more proper camera/audio, hopefully IG compression won’t worsen it. Anyway might delete it later.

A new member to the Serge family. I traded my R*S TKB some time ago, then updated it with this fresh addition. Another custom panel commissioned to @loudestwarning focuses on finding and creating moments. As usual Charlie helped me make a few mods here and there, with a particular "kearifan lokal" hidden in it.

The name itself is inspired by our late son. ❤️

Come and join us in listening session with Hasana Editions tomorrow! Also, we are doing screening again tomorrow! Friday, July 18! From 15.30 WIB! Come over to SaRanG!

–
Hasana Editions is an artistic platform and publication based in Bandung, Indonesia, focusing on archiving aural production and sound-based art practices. At the same time, it aims to build an international network for contemporary musicians and sound artists, conceptual artists, media artists and performance artists.

–

BIOSPOKE first unfolded as part of the 15th Gwangju Biennale (PANSORI: A Soundscape of the 21st Century, 2024) in the quiet neighborhood of Yangnim-dong.

Later, BIOSPOKE re-emerged, in the name of ‘Ghost strokes’, at Commonwealth and Council in Los Angeles (2025)—a gallery rooted in its community, situated in the heart of Koreatown.

Now, BIOSPOKE returns to Jogja—back to where it quietly began. The film ‘That is not still’, which anchors the project, was shot right here at SaRanG.

So, every even-numbered semester in the academic calendar, I open this class called "Simak Sonik: Mengalami Bunyi" (Sonic-seeing: Experiential Approach to Sound), which I created for the Intermedia Studio major in the current curriculum. One of this course's assignments is this improvisation session where the students 'invent' their own 'instrument' using any objects (either musical or non) to be performed in front of the class. Taking inspiration from the sonic arts aspects in the experimental & improvisation music movements, free jazz to the avant-garde such as Fluxus. We dubbed it as our own version of 'random gear festival'.

Slide to check some of the 'latest hits' from this semester! ⚡🥁🎶🎷

A bespoke Serge panel that I got recently, beautifully built by Charlie Kerr from @loudestwarning. Inspired by the classic STS Animate panel and dedicated to the beautiful creature on the last slide that we missed so much!

Berikut alm Cak Munir menjelaskan bagaimana Komando Teritorial bekerja sampai akhirnya beliau dibunuh bbrp hari sebelum RUU itu disahkan. by @duto_hardono

It’s raining this evening so I made an appropriate patch instead.
