Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved. Meet DuvanFish - My pride and joy A business I was told a 1000 times wouldn’t work. The road has been amazing, tough, hard, long short and everything in between but the journey well worth it, there’s still plenty space for growth and that’s what we will do! Very excited for next year and thankful for Gods talent and favour! Thank you @jessvanbreda for all your support and sacrifices To all the hard work put in by the rest of the DF team I’m very thankful and of-course to the clients, who without, this isn’t possible! Also a shoutout to @dirkimaging who’s filming is top class and his ability to deal with clients slack even better πŸ˜‚ To find out about our trips and what we offer visit our website www.duvanfishingcharters.com #fishing #findingfins #guidelife #fishingguide #fishingsafari #bigfishsafari #bigfish #monsterfish #oceanlife #tagandrelease #oceanveiw #shimano #assassinanglers #followyourdreams #fishingSA #shorefishing #surfcasting #rockandsurffishing #bigfishsafri #sharkfishing #kob #travelingfisherman @assassin_anglers @blacktiph @landsharkoutdoors @ybsyoungbloods by @duvan_fishing_charters
10 fish, 8 tagged and a 218cm male bronzy. Swipe for day 2 with Andy, Graham and David. 🦈 Day 10/30 | Tag count: 30/200 | Day 2 with Andy, Graham and David Flat sea, beautiful weather and hungry bronzies. Led by Duvan and Ajacks, with live mullet as the bait of the day. Midday went quiet, so we rigged double hook traces and scratched up a few sand sharks. Then one big fish broke the hook 400m out. Dicey weather is coming, but new groups from the UK and Hungary are on their way and we are ready. 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. It’s that time of the year again 😍🀟🏻 by @duvan_fishing_charters
"Can't wait to come back next year." - Pierre and Maximilian 🎣 Day 9/30 | Tag count: 22/200 | Day 5 with Pierre and Maximilian The final day of Pierre and Maximilian's 5-day adventure started early, and Luke knew he had to make the morning high tide bites count. He ran down the beach and put two mullet baits over the lip into the deep gutter. Two very fast bites later, both guys had their first fish of the morning. The bites kept coming all day. Not every one converted: three leeries were lost on metal lures thrown for a bronzy, plus a big bronzy and one or two other good fish. But the tally was a strong finish: 2 big bronzies, 1 small bronzie and 2 sand sharks. "What a perfect way to finish off the trip with so many bites." - Pierre and Maximilian Five days on the shore: a big fish lost on day one, a 226cm bronzy on day two, a J-Bay dinner built around their own catch on day four, and two big bronzies to finish. Thank you, Pierre and Maximilian. Great guiding, Luke. πŸ’ͺ 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. Last time, the bronzy won. Today, Doug got his rematch. 🦈 Day 9/30 | Tag count: 22 | Day 3 with Liam and Doug Kallim and Ajacks hit the beach early today, with the sun already high. It was day three of Liam's 30th birthday present, and Doug joined us for a rematch. On a previous trip, Doug fought a bronzy for a long time and it didn't go his way. Ever since, he has wanted another shot at a trophy-sized bronze whaler. The morning high tide made it hard to get baits into the deeper water, so the early action was smaller fish: a couple of sand sharks (no photos, sorry), a couple of smaller bronze whalers and a few smooth hound sharks. Then came the main event, 2 magnificent bronzies, one each for Liam and Doug. Doug was super stoked. He mentioned on the beach that last time didn't go his way, but that's just how fishing goes. Our tags arrived last night, so the team was back to tagging: 7 sharks tagged and released today, taking our tag count to 22. The day's tally was just over 10 fish. That's a wrap on Liam's 30th birthday trip: hammerheads on day one, a roughly 140kg bronzy on day two, and a bronzy on the final day. Happy birthday, Liam. πŸŽ‚ 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. The line parted on a big bronzy. But the day wasn't over. 🎣 Day 8/30 | Day 4 with Pierre and Maximilian Yesterday, Pierre and Maximilian went big with Luke and Ryan, chasing another big bronze whaler and hoping for a big raggy (ragged-tooth shark). The sea wasn't playing along. After a long wait, a big bronzy finally took the bait. Unfortunately, the line parted and the fish was lost. The day ended with one little bronzy, which Luke is holding. But the evening more than made up for it. At one of our beautiful local restaurants in Jeffreys Bay, the boys enjoyed a fresh fish they had caught a couple of days earlier. The restaurant kindly served them a lovely ceviche and a freshly cooked piece of fish - just another beautiful thing about J-Bay, a lovely small coastal town where everyone enjoys welcoming people from all over the world. One day left for the boys. Follow along. πŸ’ͺ 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. A 30th birthday present. An hour-long fight. A bronzy of about 140kg. 🦈 Day 8/30 | Day 2 with Liam and Alex Day two of Liam's 3-day 30th birthday present, fishing alongside Alex, the American biologist, with Kallim and Ajacks. The bites were few, but the fish were quality. Liam finally hooked into a really magnificent bronze whaler. After a fight of roughly an hour, we landed a big fish of about 140kg (310lb). The group also landed a really nice shad on live bait. Not many bites, but a really good memory and an amazing birthday present. It's a pleasure to spend it with him. Day three of Liam's trip tomorrow. Follow along. πŸŽ‚ 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. Want to be next? The tide pushed. A big bronzy came on. And then it was gone. 🦈 Day 7/30 | Day 3 with Pierre and Maximilian With Luke and Ryan guiding, Pierre and Maximilian opted for a later start today to fish the pushing tide. The water was flat and clean, but it wasn't an ultra-productive day. They landed a nice leerie (also known as garrick or leerfish). Maximilian is a big guy, so the fish looks smaller in the photo than it really was. It was a decent fish. They also lost a big bronzy. Unfortunately, that one didn't go their way. That's shore fishing. Tomorrow, we head back to the spot that produced all of yesterday's action, hoping for another shot at a couple of big bronze whalers. Follow along. πŸ’ͺ 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. An American biologist spent the morning admiring hammerheads. Up close, on the sand. 🦈 Day 7/30 | Day 1 with Alex Alex, an American biologist, and Liam who is enjoying his wives 30th birthday present to him πŸ˜‰ is with us for a few days, and Kallim and Ajacks kicked it off with an action-packed morning on the beach. Multiple hammerheads, quite a few bites, plenty of smiles and great laughter. A big fish got away, but it was a morning extremely well spent, until the east wind chased everyone off in the afternoon. For Alex, the hammerheads were the highlight. He loved the little notches, the fins and the intricate details, and how such small features often go unnoticed by the human eye, yet are there for a very particular reason. Day one was always planned as an activity day: get on the board, enjoy the surf, and see what's around in new water. Tomorrow, the focus shifts to a 100kg+ shark. The sea is a little bigger than we'd like, but the conditions are lining up decently and we're hopeful. 🎣 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation. Perfect conditions. We hoped for a banger. The big fish had other plans. Day 6/30 | Day 1 with David, Graham and Andy David, Graham and Andy from the UK joined us for day one of their trip, with Kallim and Ajacks guiding them along the coast. The conditions looked ideal, so hopes were high. But the bigger fish didn't show. How much can you complain, though, when a kob and a garrick come on live bait? David had been looking forward to ticking that species off. "I loved the appearance of this fish, silver similar to our bass back home." - David The lads also landed a common lesser sand shark, so that's 3 species on the board on day one. Day 2 tomorrow. Let's see if the bigger ones turn up. 🎣 🐟 We practice and advocate catch, tag and release, and we encourage fishing responsibly, handling every fish to the best of our ability given the situation.
