Life gets heavy sometimes and we can get so focused on responsibilities, pressure, goals, and problems that we forget laughter is actually good medicine.

Don’t take yourself or life too serious all the time.

I’ve learned that I don’t have to overly convince people who I am.

I’d rather let the work speak for itself.

One day my boy @carloscmedia told me:
“All you need to do is record yourself talking and the rest will happen naturally.”

Tbh… that stuck with me.

That’s a big reason why I’ve been consistently posting more content, speaking clips, community moments, interviews, hosted events, and conversations.

Not to impress people, but because communication matters.

People want to see:
How you speak.
How you carry yourself.
How you communicate with others.
How you show up consistently.

Communication can open doors that talent alone sometimes can’t.

So lately, I’ve been intentional about diversifying the rooms I’m in and the conversations I’m having. Every environment sharpens something different.

“If Jesus was approachable… why are so many Christians not approachable?”

That question led to a really interesting conversation at the barbershop. 💈

Sometimes we represent Jesus with distance instead of love.
Judgment instead of grace.
Performance instead of relationship.

But when you study Jesus in the Bible, people were constantly drawn to Him. Broken people. Curious people. Everyday people.

So maybe the real question is:
Are we actually reflecting Him well?

Don’t judge yesterday’s decisions with today’s wisdom.

Growth changes perspective. Some lessons only make sense after the pain, the mistakes, the conversations, and the reflection.

That’s why grace matters. For ourselves and for other people.

I’ve learned a lot through the Word of God and through the relationships God has placed around me in the church and in the community. The right people help sharpen your thinking, challenge your blind spots, and remind you who you’re becoming.

Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep giving grace.

We know the Holy Spirit is moving.

We know lives are being changed.
We know people are going to get saved.
We know West Humboldt Park will not remain the same.

But faith also requires trust in God’s timing.

Sometimes we want immediate results, but the Bible reminds us:
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

Through Hope On The Block and our Seek & Save Outreach, we’re committed to continuing the work God has called us to do: praying for people, sharing the Gospel, loving our neighbors, and serving our community consistently.

But we can’t do it alone.

We need more people willing to serve, pray, evangelize, build relationships, and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our communities. If you’ve been looking for a way to make an impact, this is your invitation.

Hope On The Block (HOTB) is a community outreach initiative committed to loving our city through prayer, outreach, and service while building authentic relationships and bringing hope directly to the community.

Yesterday during our Seek & Save Outreach, we connected with and prayed for 80 people in West Humboldt Park and passed out 100 hot dogs to our neighbors. Most importantly, every single person heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Seek & Save is our evangelism initiative focused on equipping believers to step outside the church walls, meet people where they are, and boldly share the hope of Jesus.

Faith and action go hand in hand.

As Christians, we love to pray, worship, and grow in our faith, but we’re also called to go and share the Gospel with others. Jesus met people where they were at, and we want to do the same in our neighborhoods, workplaces, friendships, and everyday lives.

We are believing that Jesus Christ will continue changing hearts in West Humboldt Park. Thankful for everyone who came out to serve, pray, and love our neighbors through action.

Isolation will have you thinking wisdom is the problem.

Proverbs 18:1 says “Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.” Looking back, I realize there was a season where I disconnected from the people God placed in my life. My mom. My pastor. My friends. People speaking truth to me, but none of it made sense because I was isolated.

When you disconnect from the vine, eventually the fruit disappears too.

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

Those things weren’t showing up in my life anymore, and because of that, wisdom sounded offensive instead of helpful.

That’s a dangerous place to be.

Sometimes healing starts with reconnecting instead of withdrawing.
