From anti-aging claims to preventing sunburns, SPF - Sun Protection Factor - lotions creams cosmetics and sunscreens are all the rave these days with brands insisting we wear sunscreen day and night, all year round. In my expert opinion, chemical and retail sunscreens are not daily essentials and only provide a false sense of security with regard to Sun protection.

The best way to protect your skin from strong, intense UV rays is to avoid the Sun between 12-4 and wear loose light weight clothing if you need to be in the Sun for prolonged periods of time.

Topical sunblocks are only effective when they are reapplied every 2 hours. Also, mineral based sun blocks are less reactive on the skin and won’t bioaccumulate in the body tissues over time the way chemical sunscreens do.
Pay attention beauties, not all cosmetics and skin care is actually designed to improve your skin health or enhance your beauty and many of the ingredients will do the exact opposite!
