🎙️ CHD Takeaways | Episode 76

Every conversation leaves us with something worth remembering.

This week, youth hockey coach Danielle Ward gave us a refreshingly straightforward look at player development, effort, hockey IQ… and the role parents can play in either helping or hurting the process.

From knowing when dropping down a level might actually help your kid, to letting their play do the talking, Danielle didn’t sugarcoat much.

And maybe the simplest lesson of all:

“If you f*ck up, fix it.”

👉 Swipe through our biggest takeaways from the conversation. @dwardy22 @mid_fairfield_hockey @breakawayacademyct

Some coaches have pages of rules.

Danielle Ward has just two.

Back check. Pass the puck.

Whether she’s coaching 5-year-olds or 15-year-olds, those expectations never change.

Because great hockey isn’t just about talent.

It’s about effort.

Effort with the puck.

Effort without the puck.

Second efforts. Third efforts. Fourth efforts.

As Danielle puts it, you don’t have to be the best player on the ice to earn your coach’s respect.

You just have to outwork everyone else.
