Flower girls 💐 Charlotte Showalter’s grandmothers are two of the most important people in her life, and asking them to be her flower girls was one of the first decisions she made for her wedding. Her enthusiasm was reciprocated in full. “My grandmothers were absolutely delighted when I asked them,” says Charlotte. “I presented them with bouquets, and they were overjoyed, telling all their friends about their very special role.” Charlotte now has an image of her flower girls hanging in her and Henry Gregor’s home. “I delight in reliving it every day,” she says. Sacred moments 🍷 One of Janie Bortz’s favorite moments from her wedding is one she shared with her grandfather, Neil Kent Bortz, whom she affectionately calls “Poppy.” To honor her proudly Jewish grandfather, Janie and Drayton Highlander had both a pastor and a rabbi officiate. They held a wine ceremony and included Poppy in a special way by having him pour the wine into the Kiddish cup. “It was one of those rare moments that felt sacred, when love became almost tangible,” Janie says. Love in color 💐 Scout Hodges and Will McCormick met when they happened to be visiting New Orleans with their respective best friends at the same time. “It’s hard to describe it as anything other than love at first sight,” says Scout. Afterparty 🪩 Having met on 6th Street while attending the University of Texas, Allie Baron and Chris Burton wanted to pay homage to a few of their favorite college hangouts after their April 5, 2025, at-home wedding and reception. Love in the wild 🦒 Ashleigh Macaluso met Braden Horton while they were seniors at Texas A&M University. After a first date of sharing fried pickles and beers, the Aggies quickly made it official. “I’d never hit it off with someone that fast,” says Ashleigh. “He’s my best friend.” Ashleigh had attended her fair share of weddings, so when it came time to plan her own, she searched for a unique venue. A friend suggested she take a peek at the Fort Worth Zoo. “I didn’t even know the zoo did weddings,” she says. “But I was so blown away.
