*Cardiospermum halicacabum L.* is a climbing vine in the soapberry family, commonly called balloon vine, heartseed, or love-in-a-puff due to its inflated, balloon-like seed pods and black seeds marked with a white heart-shaped spot. Native to tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia, it's widely naturalized in India and used in Ayurveda and traditional medicine to treat inflammation, arthritis, skin conditions, and rheumatism. The plant is named for the "Passion Flower" connection: "Cardiospermum" means "heart seed," while early Christian missionaries linked parts of its relative, the passion flower, to symbols of Christ’s Passion, though this species itself is more known for its medicinal sap and leaves than religious symbolism. by @dwights9352
