Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu didn’t just come to Indonesia. It started here.

In 1998, Professor @deddywigraha laid down the country’s first BJJ mat as the only Indonesian who earned his black belt directly from Alliance founder Romero “Jacaré” Cavalcanti @masterjacare.

What began as one room in Jakarta is now a family of 12 academies in Indonesia and 3 reciprocal countries in Asia with 10,000+ people who call it home.

We believe the gentle art is for everyone. A nervous first-timer. A kid building confidence. A woman learning real self-defense. A competitor chasing the podium. There’s a mat here with your name on it.

No experience needed. No ego at the door. Just technique, community, and a first class that’s completely free.

👉 Walk in a beginner. Walk out hooked.

Deddy Wigraha was kind enough to give us some time to tell us his personal history.

From learning Jiu-Jitsu as a student in the US, to bringing BJJ back home and spreading it in Indonesia 🇮🇩

Here is a little backstory on how Deddy has become the National Team Head Coach and now works closely with Special Forces branch of the Indonesian Military 🙏

🥋More than just a sport, it’s a
lesson in life!

Our @sekolahbogorraya staff had the opportunity to learn basic self-defense techniques through an engaging martial arts session led by Deddy Wigraha, Indonesia’s National Jiu-Jitsu Coach and Founder & Head Coach of Alliance Jiu Jitsu Indonesia.

Deddy shared his expertise to help our staff build confidence, discipline, and resilience. Every move is a chance to grow stronger, both physically and mentally!

Thank you, Coach Deddy and team @alliancesattva ,for sharing your knowledge and making our staff Wellness Day a meaningful and empowering experience! 🙌

Number 3 will surprise you!

Never forget you're pushing 40, dudes.

Warm up and stretch properly before performing these.

Any physio clinics want to sponsor me?

No music. Just real moments. 🥋❤️

A little glimpse into their journey on the mats — the preparation, the doubts, the courage, the wins, the losses, and even the injuries.

Through it all, their coaches and parents are right there, cheering them on, picking them up, and reminding them that they’re never alone.

Celebrating the wins, learning from the losses, and growing through every experience.

Because the real victory is bigger than the result. 🤍🥋 by @dwjiujitsu

Five on the mats. Five on the podium. 🌊

@ocean.jiujitsu at the Indonesia International Jiu Jitsu Championship 2026 by @bjjrootscomp. 10 October 2026, Food Centrum, North Jakarta.

🥇 GOLD — @fjradiattulloh_ , Adult Feather 64.1 - 70 kg
🥈 SILVER — @maximilliankeii , Adult Rooster under 57.5 kg
🥈 SILVER — @jessoplata, Master 1 (30+) 74.1 - 79.3 kg
🥈 SILVER — Abbas Karunia Hamzah, Boys 2017-2018
🥉 BRONZE — Kaindra Hartanto, Boys 2019-2020

Every one of them stepped up against people they had never rolled with, in a room full of strangers, and came back with hardware. For some of them, this was their first BJJ comp ever.

That was not luck. That was months of early mornings and hard rounds showing up on the day.

Congratulations, team. We are proud of all of you. 💙 On to the next ones!
