S P A C E⠀P A R K⠀L E I C E S T E R - When the University of Leicester needed an exterior lighting solution to illuminate Space Park Leicester, it was DW Windsor that they turned to.

With an extensive range of high-quality exterior luminaires to choose from and a history of delivering long-lasting lighting solutions, DW Windsor was a natural fit for the project.

Commenting on the installation, Matthew Boylan, RM M&E Technician for the University of Leicester, said: “Space Park is an ambitious project, and we wanted to ensure there was a modern look to the building. It was important to use solutions that will stand the test of time, and look clean and contemporary for the years ahead."

H I D D E N⠀I N⠀P L A I N⠀S I G H T - For DW Windsor, every project is unique and with Garda, we manage every aspect of a project to ensure all your needs are understood and met.

For the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, it was essential to deliver a lighting scheme that could be hidden in plain sight, complementing the architecture of the 205-year-old building. DW Windsor worked with the client to ensure the scheme provided the necessary illumination without detracting from the building's impressive façade.

B L U E W A T E R - Did you know, in 1999, DW Windsor supplied all of the car park and road lighting for the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent?

Working alongside @speirsmajor, we developed a unique solution for the retail park which featured a wide brim and illuminated blue canopy.

Nineteen years later and we returned to upgrade the luminaires with LED technology, helping to save Bluewater 650,000kWh annually, equating to a 75% reduction in energy usage.

We recently dipped into our archives and found these images of the bespoke luminaires developed specifically for the shopping centre. The 22-year old luminaires were manufactured at our Hertfordshire factory using skills and expertise that are still employed by DW Windsor today.

D I D⠀Y O U⠀K N O W . . .⠀DW Windsor was the first lighting company ever to receive the prestigious Queen's Award for Environmental Achievement.

Granted in 2000 in recognition of our continuous achievement in environmental performance, the award underlined our commitment to delivering energy-efficient lighting solutions designed to minimise their environmental impact.

Over twenty years later, and we're still just as committed to achieving this goal. With the transition to LED's, we're now able to deliver luminaire efficacy up to 185lm/W. We offer warmer colour temperatures (down to 2200K) as standard on many of our luminaires, and we also have a number of Dark Sky friendly solutions.

In addition, with up to 23 different light distributions available and a range of control solutions, our luminaries provide light only where it's needed, when it's needed.

I N S P I R A T I O N - In our latest Beacons of Light interview, #MartinLupton discusses key moments of inspiration in his lighting career.

The first was during a presentation at the CIBSE National Lighting Conference. Professor Malcolm Parry was discussing the role light plays in architecture using a series of images.

"I remember he even showed a picture of a washing line in Venice, hung between the narrow buildings, with light diffused between the layers of fabric," said Martin. "This sounds so simple, yet it encapsulated so much and was such a powerful metaphor for the role of light in our everyday life."

B E A C O N S⠀O F⠀L I G H T - @lightcollective is not your standard lighting consultancy. Co-founded by @sharonstammers and #MartinLupton, the consultancy has a diverse body of work, however, they're also the driving force behind many community projects.

For our next Beacons of Light interview, we spoke to Martin to discuss his history, passions and the important work Light Collective is doing with the Women in Lighting initiative.
