A couple designs for @drinkgaragebeer - working on some new ones for them and realized I’ve never shared any of these that I did last year! . The Kelce brothers / Garage’s marketing team have done such a great job in building a fun and relatable brand in garage , that really paves the way to have a ton of fun with the merch. They are extremely open to ideas and these were a blast to work on. . Note : some are still up on their merch store , some are on other garments etc . I’ve done a lot more work with brands this year and would love to do more this coming year. Feel free to connect : Jeff@dxvidesigns.com . . . . . @drinkgaragebeer @killatrav @jason.kelce by @dxvidesigns
New one for The Strokes available right now on their UK / LATAM Tour + UK Ecomm store “ I just wanted to be one of The Strokes, now look at the mess you made me” . Getting to work on this Strokes merch line and some other related Strokes work has been a huge highlight of my year. . Growing up in Ireland and moving to the states, I used to get a subscription to the @nmemagazine still shipped over to New York. I remember picking up an issue my first year here and reading about The Strokes assuming the were the next huge Brit band, and was over the moon to find out the also called NYC home. . I’ve been a fan for such a long time that it feels so full circle to get to work on merch for them many years later. Their Magna logo was one of the first design elements that caught my eye as a kid and fascinated me. Fast Forward 25 years later and “Under the Cover of Darkness” was one of my wedding closing songs. . The new album has really blown me away and set the strokes as one of those bands who can just do no wrong , everything they touch is just so well written and thought out. . . . . . #merchdesign #merchdesigner #appareldesign #thestrokes tshirtdesigns by @dxvidesigns
Official Shirt and sticker designs for the 40th anniversary concert tour of Jim Henson’s Labyrinth . @hensoncompany @labyrinthinconcert . One of the wildest opportunities to come across my desk this year, as a kid I was floored when I first watched Labyrinth. I didn’t know you could build such a large, tangible, practical world in such a short time and that it could all sit on a VHS that I could rewatch over and over. I used to obsess over there characters and make my own double feature of Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. I was equally floored by @davidbowie ‘s incredible voice and songwriting. I was already a fan of his from a young age but seeing his work in this film cemented it for life. . Super excited to get to work on merch for this incredible event, thanks to the araca group for having me on it. I got access to an absolute treasure trove of original film still photography all the way up to current illustrated assets , logos etc to play with. As a huge archivist at heart , seeing that stuff preserved in high res was possibly the best part of this all. . The sticker set and the slate blue shirt are available at the shows (I just loved this early single color version we worked up so had to include it too !) . . . . #merchdesign #merchdesigner #broadwaymerch #appareldesign #shirtdesign by @dxvidesigns
A couple tour designs for the legendary funky divas @envoguemusic . . These are available on En Vogue”s merch store now and should also be on their tour with fellow legends @officialtlc and @saltnpepaofficial . . . Had a blast trying to bring some 90s flavor to these designs , utilizing both old and new photos . So amazing to see one of the best groups to ever touch R&B still performing and it sounding just as incredible as ever. Working on these took me back to days as a kid sitting in front of MTV , fuse , BET etc and being so excited by the amazing instrumentation and songwriting of these songs when they would come on. . . . . #merchdesign #merchdesigner #tourmerch appareldesign by @dxvidesigns
Couple shirts and poster for @silentmajority_longisland . I get asked often by people “who are the top 3 bands you’d love to design something for?” I’ve gotten the privilege to work with some amazing artists over the years , but hands down the top two I’ve always said is Silent Majority and @crimeinstereoisdead . . Growing up on Long Island , in the greatest music scene in the world , I have just never heard another band on this planet that resonates with me the way these bands do. Being a part of the LI hardcore community growing up , seeing these incredible bands makes me feel immensely lucky to have been in that time and place and being able to connect directly to something so deeply amazing. . Moving from Ireland in 2000 to LI , I just missed silent Majority , but fell in love with so many Long Island bands and was instantly hooked. Many of these bands are still doing it today , playing this insane weekend of shows , like @themovielife.longisland516 , @clockwise_lihc , @ironchic - alongside some of the best bands on the island from today , like @somersetthrower , @privatemindli , @lovecry.ny etc . There’s no scene in the world like Long Island. The history and lore within a weekend of shows like this runs so incredibly deep. The crossover of band members, how shows like this read more like a reunion of old friends, musicians, than it does a commercial venture- it’s all something I miss dearly now that I have moved off the island. . Huge thanks to @grasprock for tapping me for these designs, it’s truly an honor. I had such a blast buying old LI diner menus on eBay , ripping through 1930s Long Island train maps etc to try to incorporate some real Long Island history into these. The diner design ran as a shirt , with full lyrics weaved throughout on the shirt back , and the shows lineups on the poster version. The kids desks shirt ran on white ( just needed to add a darker mockup in there too to balance it out lol) LIHC forever . . . . . #LIHC #silentmajority #themovielife #crimeinstereo by @dxvidesigns
Couple approvals for the ATLien himself @bigboi of @outkast for his current tour with @kidcudi . The smoke shirt is on a really dope @cottoncollective___ twofer , which I have been trying to roll into several merch collections recently so glad this one crossed the line! . Embroidered hat in braves colors to round it out . Really amped to get to work with Big Boi ! OutKast was absolutely my gateway to hip hop. I had just moved to Long Island from where I grew up in Dublin Ireland (not exactly a hub for hip hop back then like it’s become 🇮🇪!) in 2000 and remember seeing the videos for “so fresh, so clean” and “Ms. Jackson” in @fusetv and being absolutely floored with the new to me sound and creativity that I had never see anything like. Cannot believe it’s Stankonia’s 25th anniversary this year. . Was in the middle of loading up our wedding playlist with OutKast cuts when I got asked to do these so couldn’t be better timing for a reason to jam even more OutKast and big boi while working on this. . . . . . . #merchdesigner #merchdesign #appareldesign #bigboi #outkast by @dxvidesigns
New one for @themenzingers for the preorder of their new record “Everything I Ever Saw” - available for preorder now via @epitaphrecords . Really amped to get to do this shirt and another (believe it’ll be a tour shirt) with these guys, and just equally excited to see a band like Menzingers keep doing what they do best 20 years later. . Back in their early days , while I was in college in Binghamton, NY , me and a few friends used to drive down to Wilkes barre, PA all the time to catch shows because the scene was just starting to explode there. I remember catching Menzingers for the first time there on a show with some combination of @titlefightfanclub , @balanceandcomposure , @tigersjaw , foundation and a few other locals at like a fire hall and being floored by them. Floored enough to keep on driving the few hours down every few months to keep on catching gigs in WB, Scranton , Philly, Oneonta etc knowing something really special was happening. . Their songwriting is still an instant blast of nostalgia for those times and really brings me back. Thank you @timzahodski for having me on this one ! . . . . . #merchdesign #merchdesigner #bandmerch #themenzingers by @dxvidesigns
A simple photo based design to celebrate rock n roll hall of famers @thezombiesofficial ‘s Mono Remaster release of the classic “Begin Here” . . Released originally on April 9, 1965 , we’re just past the 60 year anniversary of this masterpiece record. It’s one of those classics that really shocks me every time I give the record a spin , with just how timeless and boundary pushing some of these tracks are. . The cover of this album is iconic in its own right, gracing the walls and bins of almost every record store I’ve ever been to since I was a kid - so I did not want to stray far from it. I tried to treat this design like a fan club design of the time , minimal , 2 color screen print on a nice worn garment. . Available now on their site with the preorder of the mono remaster . Thank you @therocksmgmt for having me on this ! . . . . . #merchdesign #merchdesigns #appareldesign #bandmerch #thezombies by @dxvidesigns
New 3 color screenprinted alt. Cover designed and printed for @qsnyc ‘s 30th anniversary edition of “Manic Compression” . Have always been such a huge fan of all of @walterschreifels work , and this record has always felt like one of the most timelessly incredible pieces in Quicksand’s catalog . @iodinerecordings has released an incredible deluxe edition of the record with a full color booklet that has so much amazing material from the band’s career , as well as a ton of cool info on the original artwork by the exceptionally talented @melindabeckart . . Like “Slip” this cover feels so timeless and immediately evokes a long staying image and feel. I love the parts of the book that show Melinda’s process (pictured) and wanted to replicate and honor that via my own medium of design + screen printing - focusing on pushing all that great detail in the cardboard and newspaper in the background , trapping it all in with a thick dark overlay. Truly an honor to get to touch her great work on this. . Thank you to my friends at @limitedtoonenyc + iodine for having me on this one , will say it til I’m blue in the face , no better record store in the city , or country, or planet. Limited to 35 for sale in the store. Hand screened in the Hudson valley by myself, 3 color water based TW ink on @frenchpaperco whitewash 80lb stock. . I love taking on special packaging projects like this , feel free to connect about yours : jeff@dxvidesigns.com . . . . #quicksand #merchdesign #merchdesigner #screenprinted by @dxvidesigns
New one for @notcarseatheadrest for their weekend show at @theanthemdc . Worked on a few pieces with CSH’s merch manager Emily and got a few other approvals coming soon , but this one’s available first. . Just wanted to thank Emily for being literally one of the best clients to ever work with - a huge breath of fresh air in the merch industry. She really truly cares a ton about designers and their process, comes to the project with excitement, respect and clear direction and is just beyond a pleasure to work with. If there was a playbook on how to work with a designer directly, she would be writing it ! . . . . . . . . #bandmerch #merchdesign #merchdesigner #carseatheadrest #appareldesigner #shirtdesigns by @dxvidesigns
Another one of my favorite approvals for @notcarseatheadrest / @cshmerch ! This one is was available at their Salt Shed show over the weekend on a fun maroon colored pullover hoodie (had it mocked up for a natural long sleeve already so just sharing that) Featuring a great sleeve print using lyrics from my favorite track off the new album “CCF” . . . . . . . . . . . . #bandmerch #merchdesign #merchdesigner #carseatheadrest #appareldesigner #shirtdesigns by @dxvidesigns
Full art direction / CD storybook packaging for @elliedixonmusic ‘s CD release. . As a lifelong physical media collector who growing up used to obsess over reading liner notes , having CD packaging that felt like not just something thrown together to look at while listening to a record was always something that set a release apart to me. . I was so excited when Ellie and her team brought me on to bring this dream alive for her CD packaging of her new release “Tales of a Knight”. . We had already began crafting some visual language that ended up in here through the sticker designs and lyric video I did , that built upon her and her teams amazing direction through the existing album cycle photos, hand drawn frame elements, music videos etc I am floored by how cohesive an album campaign her and the team came up with so it was easy to build off that (and they did it all independently nonetheless!) . We wanted to create a story book sized packaging with lots of little Easter eggs and references , a die cut slip for the CD to tuck into, a full lyric booklet that treated the album as a story visually and lots more. . I won’t spoil anything as far as what’s in there otherwise , as that’s the point of this packaging , to be something tactile and special for the listener to enjoy in person. . Thanks again to Ellie and her team at @sarahlipmanmgmt for having me be a part of this ! . I tend to be doing 90% merch design these days so packing design like this is always so fun for me - let’s book something like this in the new year !
