Happy 30th Birthday, little fella.

Firstly, I’m sorry we never became a Red Power Ranger, never played rugby for Wales, and still haven’t won a club championship (we’re working on it). The good news is, we somehow made it to 30, which is a miracle in itself.

Life is going to be some journey. There will be a lot more downs than ups, but through all the heartbreak, the hard times and the dark days, you’ll grow into someone you can be proud of. Someone who, yes, is slightly on some kind of spectrum, but someone who works hard, keeps going, and never lets failure stop him believing.

Also, in 2009, you’ll see a chubby, curly-haired Northern Irish kid playing golf on TV. It’s incredibly important that you stick with him through life. Trust me on this one.

One last thing: less time in the McDonald’s drive-thru and more time on the range and in the gym as a teenager would probably have been a good idea.

But most importantly, never, ever let the opinions of others define the person you see in the mirror.

You’ll have some incredible moments, some pretty awful ones, and plenty of times when you’ll doubt yourself. But keep going. Keep believing. And remember that the person you become is far more important than any result, trophy or opinion along the way.

And remember 1% Better always.

Love,

A slightly older and greyer Dyl xx by @dyl18_
