Advocacy Champion Dylan Bova takes us behind the scenes as she advocates for legislation that could make a difference for the PKD community.

During her recent trip to Washington, D.C., Dylan urged congressional offices to support two key pieces of legislation: the bipartisan PKD Cures Act and the Living Donor Protection Act.

Introduced in June, the PKD Cures Act (H.R. 9169) is the first federal legislation focused exclusively on advancing research for polycystic kidney disease, which affects more than 500,000 Americans.

The Living Donor Protection Act (H.R. 4583 & 4582 / S. 1552) would remove barriers for people who choose to become living donors. In February 2026, it advanced out of the Senate HELP Committee for the first time.

It’s PKD Awareness Day! 🩵💙🩵

I was diagnosed with PKD in 2024 and it was admittedly really scary. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a genetic disease demonstrated by the growth of cysts on the kidneys that leads to kidney failure in over 50% of patients by the age of 60. Since the disease doesn’t run in my family, I didn’t know anyone with PKD and felt really lost.

Now, two years in, thanks to the @pkdfoundation I have become an advocate for kidney health and attended some incredible events. I’m so grateful for the community the foundation has brought me, and am proud to share my story.

I’m so happy to say that I received two PKD Awareness Day proclamations this month from the Lake County Commisioner, @leslie.campione, and the Mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer.

I am so grateful for the support I have received through this journey, and can’t wait to keep fighting to #endpkd for as long as I can. by @dylan.bova
