Recent trip to @vertexpharmaceuticals in Boston, sharing about “Guts, Glitter, Glory”. This large lung piece was the first large scale commission since I shifted to creating artwork related to my health journey 11 years ago, right after I decided to make the leap to go full time into art. Always fun to visit these amazing people and this piece that has become the selfie station at Vertex.

The party kept rolling Friday and Saturday, with many more of you amazing people stopping by, including @mpboylemd President and CEO of @cf_foundation . Even hurricane warnings in Atlanta couldn’t stop this force of warriors, advocates, researchers and medical workers. The @viatrisinc booth was so busy. I barely made it out to see the many other amazing things happening at this conference, including many spectacular sessions. I will have to catch up online. But I was able to connect with thousands of you including several outstanding nonprofits like @vivianleefoundation @clairesplacefoundation @bonnellfoundation @cfri.curecf @breathestrongcf @filotimo_foundation @projectcfspouse @emilysentourage and many more. Always moved to tears by this inspirational community. Thank you all for who you are and all you do!

There are artists, and then there’s Dylan Mortimer: an absolute force of nature with a paintbrush and an unreasonable amount of glitter. ✨

Yesterday at #NACFC2026, the one and only @dylan.mortimer unveiled his spectacular new work, Reflected Healing, created in collaboration with @viatris.

Dylan lives with CF, has undergone TWO double-lung transplants, and has somehow managed to turn mucus, damaged lungs, and the realities of a devastating disease into an absolutely breathtaking work of art time and time again.

And every detail tells a story.

🌳 The trees represent the CF community.

💚 The green drips? Mucus. Because obviously.

💙 The reflection in the water? A vision of fully healed lungs. A future where CF no longer exists.

Dylan describes his art as transforming trauma into “aggressive joy and offensive hope.”

And if that doesn’t perfectly describe the Glitter King, I don’t know what does.

There’s something pretty extraordinary about a person who has endured so much finding a way to make the world more beautiful, more colorful, and a whole lot more hopeful.

Here’s to a future where the only thing we’re fighting to get rid of is glitter. 💜✨

Speechless… but here are some words. Day 1 of #nacfc @cf_foundation in Atlanta and the unveiling of “Reflected Healing”, commissioned by and in collaboration with @viatris, so honored by your support of me as an artist and as a human. Today was absolutely non stop line of friends, physicians, researchers, advocates, medical staff etc, of which I am humbled and honored to be a part of. This is the community that transformed a death sentence before 14 into a life expectancy in the 70’s. This movement has attracted research from all corners of the globe and inspires so far beyond this specific disease itself. At its core, it is about finding hope out of seeming hopelessness. Much like my artwork, transforming trauma into aggressive joy and offensive hope. If you are here, please stop by Friday or Saturday… I’ll be there all of both days!

Today I turn 47, which is 33 years past my life expectancy when I was born. I know some mourn getting older. I hope I can offer a different perspective- that every single breath we take is a victory celebration. I get to share my story around the world, and whether the context is art, medical or spiritual, I’m saying the same thing: I worked really hard to fight for life, but that was not what saved me. It is what I received from God, my donors and their families, my family, medical staff, and all of you! And it relates in this way- no one earned or deserved breathing… it is a gift! Everything we do is a result of this gift we have received. We cannot give what we haven’t received. Rather than striving, proving, earning, I believe there is a God what wants to give us far more than we imagine. And that this life is practice for breathing it in and receiving. The more we receive, the more we have to give. My birthday blessing is that you receive more of exactly what you gave to me: hope, peace, love, imagination, vision, patience and endurance. I’m more grateful for you than you could ever know!

Here’s a new one influenced by the fact that my kids are getting interested in David Lynch and we are watching Twin Peaks. One of him most striking imaginations, the “red room”, is here transformed as a hospital room with curtains and checkered floors, a remix of his zig zag pattern. The character known as the “arm” evolves into a tree in the third season, here a bronchial tree with cells. The evolution of a bronchial tree.

My trip to Boston was primarily to meet with Anagram Therapeutics, an amazing group of people with exciting research. I shared artwork, my book and my story with a packed conference room full of brilliant minds. They showed me their research, and I showed them my own research from the studio. I will never cease to be amazed at the global energy around research in the CF universe. Unexpected and really unparalleled breakthrough in the rare disease space. While of course we wish no one ever had CF, it has been truly breathtaking to see the passion and vision towards a cure.
