Absolute precision with our L39 team jets, an ATR42 and two camera ships : plane with @shotoversystems #F1 for high speed sequences 🎥🛩️ and #K1 with Multi-Array on helicopter for chirurgical moves 🚁

From the hangar to the air, every shot starts long before the cameras roll.

Aircraft preparation, flight coordination, formation work and aerial filming — bringing fast jets and larger aircraft together requires every movement to be planned, briefed and executed with precision.

“Hey Fred, how close can you get to the fire truck?” Throwback to the time the legend @fred_north did what Fred North does for me on @flightriskmovie We had exactly 90 min of useable light over two days to capture this scene. Fred along with Aerial cinematographer @dylangoss skillfully executed the shots I had spent weeks planning out. Incredible to see what he could do in person. It’s a night I’ll never forget. Really proud to have been a small part of @onebattleafteranothermovie as #AerialDirectorOfPhotography. It’s not often you get to shoot in glorious 35mm 8-perf #VistaVision - especially in the sky and on a @paulthomasanderson production 🤩

More to come regarding this project, it was a journey for our team to make happen!

I was invited to host a talk this week at @theasterlosangeles, moderated by @the_woody. I went in with a lot of wondering how this might go, from having anything to say to just plain stage fright. In the moment that stuff faded fast and it was such a fun blur to share my work in this way this evening. I met so many cool people with a love of film and a real interest in our little part of it. BTS from Marvel’s AVENGERS: End Game

Aerial shoot in Brazil to create a starting point for “Vormir” from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fantasy location Vormir is featured in both End Game and Infinity War.

We were fortunate enough to travel to the other-worldly Lenćóis Maranhenses National Park in Brazil to capture the images that were the foundation for the amazing final creation seen in the two films 🤩

We shot during “blue hour”, the period a bit before sunrise and after sunset when the sky isn’t orange but instead blue with the slightest light. To film in such low light we used super “fast” Leica Summilux T1.4 lenses in the helicopter gimbal while we focused on that brief shooting window.

@netflix premieres its six episode limited series THE PERFECT COUPLE today!

I am really excited to watch this one. The trailer looks great and I’m a big fan of the limited series format in general. The source material novel by @elinhilderbrand has a huge following and the cast looks amazing 🤩

One thing I remember clearly from our shoot is how tricky it can be working with the helicopter in a place like Nantucket. It is simply gorgeous there and it is easy see and feel how it’s so special. But even while flying WELL over 1000’ away and above everything inhabited, we still generated a few complaints to the tower 🤑 But hey we got it done carefully and with no actual issues in the end 😎 … and that’s super important 😉

I haven’t seen much yet but I am super hopeful that some of the less-typical things we were able to shoot made the cut. @fred_north and I did a long flight with our good friend DP Roberto De Angelis where we were able to play around and do some super fun stuff together. We were also let off the chain a bit from the input we had early on from his co-DP @shanehurlbutasc.

Check it out and once it’s been released for a minute I’ll see what else I can find to post about the making of the aerials on this one 😎👍

The fine folks who produced #itendswithusmovie put together this cool BTS reel of the aerial work we did together in New England and the awesome City of Boston.

This size-small movie keeps playing XL as a hit theatrical release - very good news for all of us who still haven’t quite yet figured any other way to make a living outside this amazing business 😎

Congratulations to our friend, Producer John Logan Pierson of @wayfarerstudios on the STRONG cinema opening of @itendswithusmovie this weekend!! Looks like they took Friday night at an impressive $24M domestic with a modest production… on target for as much as $70M globally this weekend! 🤩🤩

We had a full couple of days with the helicopter, shooting in both Boston and Maine to assist the story, set a few things up, and mostly just add a little bit to open up the scope of this brave film. Really nice to see the trust to bring us in and add to the gorgeous work of @barrypetersondp (who we were coincidentally shooting with on an upcoming Ryan Reynolds film at the same time 😝).
