A forgettable brand is expensive to market.

You pour all your time, money and energy into building a great product or service.

Then you start marketing it and hope it takes off.

People will see your ad. They might click it. They might even buy.

But your return on investment never seems to improve.

You skipped a step.

You forgot to create a sticky, resonant brand.

If your brand isn’t memorable, you might get purchases, but you reduce your chances at repeat customers, referrals, and word of mouth.

Loyalty can’t be bought. It has to be built.

And it starts with the very first impression.

A strong brand makes every marketing dollar work harder, and every customer more likely to come back. by @dylankellydesign

Brand identity created for Dialectica during my time at Halaska Studio, including logo design, visual identity and image direction.

Dialectica is building a new approach to knowledge verification, combining AI with the dialectic method: the pursuit of truth through opposing ideas.

The challenge was to create an identity that explored the connection between ancient philosophy and emerging tech.

The logomark forms the letter D from two opposing shapes converging into a four pointed spark, representing thesis and antithesis coming together to create new understanding. by @dylankellydesign

Not all visual identity concepts make the cut. Here’s one from the cutting room floor for a crypto marketplace. by @dylankellydesign

One of my favourite logo concepts I’ve created, despite never making it into the world.

Fintro was a fintech focused job platform designed to better connect companies with talent across the industry.

The logo combines a wifi signal with the letter ā€œFā€ to create a monogram that represents connection, discovery, and communication. I also developed a custom wordmark designed to complement the symbol.

The project ultimately didn’t move forward, but I still think there’s something really strong about the execution of this mark.

Sometimes the rejected concepts end up being the ones that stick with you the most.

One of my favourite projects from my time at Halaska Studio.

I worked on the visual identity for REAL, a decentralised finance platform, developing the brand system across colour, typography, gradients, textures, image direction, and digital applications.

These are some highlights from the project.

Recently completed brand identity for Health Dynamis, a counselling and wellbeing practice supporting individuals, teams and communities through complex and high-impact life events.

The identity draws from the Greek word ā€œdynamisā€, meaning strength and potential. This became the foundation of the visual concept, combining the universal health cross with cymatic patterns, geometric forms created through vibration.

The idea was simple: just as vibration can create ordered and beautiful patterns, the right care and support can create meaningful positive change in people’s lives.

The project included:
• Brand strategy
• Logo design
• Visual identity
• Brand identity design
• Brand guidelines
• Brochure design

Really enjoyed creating something that needed to feel both professional and compassionate.

ā€œCan you just make me a quick logo?ā€

Every brand designer has heard this at some point.

I get why business owners say it.

It’s easy to bundle a logo into the long list of boxes you need to check when launching or repositioning.

You might also assume most of our time is spent just designing the logo.

The reality is that’s only a small part of it.

What you don’t see is the discovery, research, moodboarding, and everything else that makes sure design decisions are grounded rather than guesswork.

I’ve attached a breakdown of what a typical branding project looks like with me.

This is the difference between buying a logo and investing in a brand. by @dylankellydesign

This is one of my favourite logos I’ve created.

Created as part of a recent brand identity exploration for Next Up Music Awards.

The brief was to create an identity that appealed to students aged 6-18 while taking them seriously and avoiding a childish visual language.

One requirement was that the logo incorporate a ā€œnext trackā€ icon.

For this concept, I created a custom wordmark and used the geometry of the N to form the next track symbol.

Although this direction wasn’t selected, I’m still incredibly proud of where it landed.

Excited to finally share this identity I created for Dash by Halaska Studio, which officially launched this week.

Dash is a focused design sprint offering built to help founders get investor-ready fast.

The goal with the identity was to make it feel connected to the existing Halaska Studio visual language, while introducing more speed and playfulness.

The logo system leans heavily into forward motion. The wordmark was custom built, and the symbol takes on the form of a sprinting figure using the same visual language.

Big congrats to Chris and the team on the launch šŸš€ taken in Sydney, Australia by @dylankellydesign

The World Cup has just taught us the ultimate branding lesson.

When the FIFA World Cup 2026 visual identity was first revealed, it received a lot of criticism.

People thought the logo was lifeless and didn’t represent the three host nations in the way that previous World Cup logos have.

The problem was that the logo was being judged in isolation.

Fast forward to today and we’ve now experienced the full identity in context.

We got to see the incredible motion design, colours, graphic devices, patterns, typography and sound all working together.

And with that, the conversation changed completely.

The logo isn’t carrying the entire brand anymore.

And the identity feels vibrant, expressive, and full of life.

The lesson?

People pin all meaning into a logo because it’s what they are used to doing.

When we see the Apple logo, we don’t just see an apple. We think about innovation, product launches, the unboxing experience, and the ecosystem around it.

When we see the Red Bull logo, we think about energy, extreme sports, racing and adventure.

But those associations weren’t created by the logo alone.

They were built through thousands of brand moments over time.

When we see a new logo, we haven’t built those associations yet.

But fill every other brand moment with beautifully thought out execution, and all of a sudden the logo becomes a symbol to represent everything else.

The Brand Moodboard VS The Logo Design Concept

This is a test I use all the time to check if the final brand identity concept fits with the visual direction the client agreed on. It’s become baked into my branding process.

Logo design, brand identity and marketing rollout for Derive, a leading decentralised derivatives protocol.

Originally operating as Lyra, the team rebranded to Derive to reflect a broader vision around on-chain options, perpetuals, and programmable financial products.

Working within an extremely compressed timeline, I developed the new logo in just 3 days, followed by a complete visual identity system over the next two weeks, including animated patterns, social media templates, and rollout assets for the public launch.

The goal was to create something that felt strong, powerful, and sharp without falling into the generic visual language that dominates a lot of crypto branding.

The rebrand launched alongside the DRV token rollout and helped position Derive as one of the leading protocols in the DeFi derivatives space.

Post-launch, the platform grew to:
70%+ market share in on-chain options
$120M TVL
70,000 active users

One of the most intense timelines I’ve worked under, but still one of my favourite identity systems I’ve built.
