Vancouver, we’ve got some good news to share. Pacific Rhythm and @fortress_yvr are connecting once again, and this time we’re presenting a new party concept rooted around a long-winded and intentional approach to a night out called BRAIN BATH.

For our inaugural session, we’re excited to welcome the Balearic maestro and dance music archivist @apiento to the city for the first time. Apiento has had a long and winding history in dance music that’s taken him from working for the legendary Junior Boy’s Own label, working alongside Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor as Yes Productions making beats for M.I.A., and onward to operating the massively influential label and blog, @test_pressing_official. The term “a DJ’s DJ” is overused and a tad cliché at this point, but it stands true here. Look forward to hearing something new and exciting that will shift your perspective and move your body.

We’ll be opening up the evening nice and slow with an ambient set from the BRAIN BATH DJs and a complimentary tea service from our island friends, @softer.drink. They’ll also be bringing along some beautiful Pu’er with them that will be available for purchase. After that, Edmonton’s finest ambient practitioner, Khotin, will be performing live. There’s a strong chance that by this point you’re well aware of Khotin’s lush, deeply emotive, and iconic sound, but if you haven’t had the pleasure, this would be a great introduction to the world of Khotin Industries.

This all takes place on April 4th at a beautiful loft space with a wooden dance floor (yeah, you know the one). A handful of very affordable tickets are available now on Resident Advisor. Get involved. We think you’ll be happy you did.

sharing some images from my zine “Let Go All You Know,” which originally came out in 2023, a few months after my album “Release Spirit” was released.

at that time, besides focusing on the album i was working heavily with video cameras, at first documenting and filming general moments in life, then getting further into video feedback and editing it all down with analog video mixers. i began exploring putting my music to all of these visuals through live sets and music videos (particularly for the song off the album i made with @tessroby that the zine title comes from). there were always a handful of people who asked about the visuals i was using at my shows , so in addition to printing this work as a sort of personal time capsule, i also wanted to have something to offer at the merch table for those who enjoyed the visuals.

this ended up being one of the bigger attempts at putting my artwork to print back then, and although it turned out okay, i wasn’t completely satisfied with the first edition. considering it had been out of print for a while anyway, i decided to have a second edition made, particularly to take to the tokyo art book fair in december. it was an honour to have the zine for sale at the @ccommunee table at the fair, as well as available in their store afterward.

i’d also like to thank @actual_source for stocking this edition of the zine, and also for providing these great scans of it for their site. anyway, story time over.. i do still have a handful of copies on my bandcamp page if you’d like to order one directly from me. thank you for viewing and supporting! by @dylankf
