Sette Cama, Gabon 2026

At the edge of Loango National Park, the vast Ndogo Lagoon meets the Atlantic Ocean. A piece of this place will forever be etched into my soul. Forest elephants wander the shoreline, the jungle presses in from all sides, and some of nature’s most powerful fish hunt these waters.

I’ve been blessed to explore a lot of places. This may be the most extraordinary place I’ve ever been.

When the wind blows, the rain hits you sideways and the clouds look as though they would prefer to make you a tasty snack, you find out quickly what matters most. The world’s finest fly fishing equipment. Guides working three times harder than they would on a bluebird day. Great people. And a place wild enough to remind you that none of us are really in control.

We recently brought the newest rod in the fleet, the SAGE Signal, and the gorgeous new ENFORCER Sea Smoke colorway to Beh Kay Lodge, our newest Sage Experiences outfitter in Mexico’s Espiritu Santo Bay. The weather did what the weather will do, but the equipment was made for the occasion and built to meet the demands of saltwater anglers traveling thousands of miles to meet the fish of their dreams.

Through it all, the Beh Kay guides and hosts shone, and the wild magnificence of Espiritu Santo Bay kept us on our toes. Great company and some of the finest food we have ever enjoyed at a lodge were the icing on the cake of a week we will not soon forget.

My good mate Matty. A day I’ll cherish forever, laughing through the rain and watching storms roll across the flats with our guide Rafa. Tarpon, some celebratory cold ones, and the amazing people of @behkaylodge.

A Love Letter to the Deschutes

My heart goes out to everyone who lives, works and plays along this majestic river.

This closure is about far more than a lost fishing opportunity. It is the disruption of a way of life, the absence of a dear friend and a deep unease about the future of our wild steelhead and the waters they call home.
